second album
[edit]Quote: Heather recorded her new album on the 1 March 2006 Did she really record the album on a single day? I might express my doubts she did. 62.178.193.144 21:28, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Beginning
[edit]Quoting the article: Small was born and raised in West London and joined her first group, Hot House, while she was still a teenager. However, after a chance meeting with a Manchester DJ called Mike Pickering, formerly of Quando Quango, her distinctive voice, similar to Vic Reeve's pub style, helped sell over 10 million albums worldwide singing with his group M People. They had considerable success with songs such as Moving on Up and Search for The Hero.
Problems with this section include the use of several run on sentences, which degrade the article. The 2nd sentence is definitely a run on with several subordinate clauses.
Suggested re-write:
Small was born and raised in West London. As a teenager, she sang with Hot House. She joined Manchester DJ Mike Pickering's M People after a chance meeting with him (when?). Her distinct voice is credited (by whom?) with helping sell over 10 million albums worldwide. The songs Moving On Up and Search for a Hero reached #X and #Y on Z charts. (This helps eliminate some of the weasel words within the article.)
If there are no objections to the re-write, I'll research and make the changes in this section. Not to disparage Ms. Small's success as an artist, the article appears conjectural rather than factual. Barclay316 (talk) 19:37, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with the re-write, if only to remove the curious assertion that her singing voice is similar to Vic Reeve's pub style! Informed Owl (talk) 00:43, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Informed Owl
- Have now tackled this, & several other issues. It may not be perfect, but I hope it's better. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 13:43, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Why No Personal Section.
[edit]Why isn't there a personal section for this bio. A cursory google search shows that Small Is not married, but has an 11-year-old son, James, with former Great Britain and Wigan rugby league player Shaun Edwards, she has been in a relationship with barrister David Neita for nine years, and she is a vegaterian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.205.8.5 (talk) 00:05, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- I guess that nobody has been interested enough to add such a section, but if this information can be reliably sourced, it might add to the article. Rodhullandemu 00:47, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Here is a story on her from The Sunday Times and another from The Telegraph that each contain a wealth of biographical information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.205.8.5 (talk) 01:38, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
A comment states that as of August 2014 the singer was still in a relationship with Barrister, David Neita. However while the two remain friends, third parties confirm they have not been in a relationship since 2011. Angelight75 (talk) 03:07, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
Heaven and Earth Show appearance
[edit]The section subtitled "Proud" could mention how she once appeared on The Heaven and Earth Show championing pride of The Seven Deadly Sins - at least, I think it was that programme - it was a long time ago now! ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:23, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Some good information here, but citations and referencing are needed. Some work needs to be done on NPOVing the tone e.g. "The album was a huge commercial failure", as well as expanding her background. Edofedinburgh 03:01, 21 March 2007 (UTC) |

Actress?
[edit]In the 'Occupation' section, she is referred to as an actress, yet nowhere in the article are any acting roles mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:D401:5B00:901C:DD5:D822:413E (talk) 11:32, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
Place of birth
[edit]The record for Small at FreeBMD is this one which gives a registration district of Paddington. This is consistent with Kensington i.e. Ladbroke Grove. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:54, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
