Name
[edit]What's the origin of the name? --Qyd (talk) 15:31, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's named from the Hangenberg Shale, part of a sequence that straddles the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary, from the Rhenish Mountains in Germany. I should probably add that. Mikenorton (talk) 15:43, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- I tried to look it up in the literature, and I think I identified the exact location. The Hangenberg seems to be a small mountain close to Deinstrop (incorporated into Arnsberg) in Westphalia. The mountain isn't in any online maps, but in this document it is described as being opposite of Calcit Edelsplitt Produktions GmbH on the other site of the K 26 road close to a small lake and a small forested area. That's here. The Hangenberg geological site is on the southern end of this small mountain according to sources. --::Slomox:: >< 09:17, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

- Sorry it took so long, it only just occurred to me to try the Wayback machine and I found a copy third try. Mikenorton (talk) 12:45, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- thank you very much Mikenorton - this time it works - no problem that it need so long - it is long time ago :-)-- Hartmann Schedel cheers 07:57, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
