Color

[edit]

The article says it's golden-green. I don't see any green. That description would appear to be misleading. 72.177.113.91 (talk) 21:48, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I don’t understand it either. Why is this called the ”green monkey”? No animals have green or blue fur. Cats are called ”blue” when they’re actually grey. But why is this one called green? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bossk-Office (talkcontribs) 17:41, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It supposedly has a green sheen to its fur when examined up close.

Notes for expansion

[edit]
  • [1] - Conservation status in Cote d'Ivoire? Reasons for apparent decline mentioned in first few pages
  • Range map? -  Done File:Chlorocebus sabaeus range.svg
  • Interactions with humans - [2] mentions that vervets in general common for testing, PDF above mentioned monkey meat was available in a village for sale
  • Search existing sources for more information
    • More info on reason for introduction? Pets, extra food?
    • More detailed description of appearance - not as green as name indicates, only a slight hint.

Should we include a footnote to Green Monkey disease, the disease widely believed in some circles to be have been the virus that mutated into HIV?
