As of Mar 2010, compared with the Feb 2009 presenter list, there are changes to be checked in a couple of weeks in case they are sickness/holiday: Omit Julia Moore. Add Emma Whittaker-Axon, David Way, Fred MArden, Anthony Zahra (news), Neal Veglio (Travel). The schedule link is broken - fix when updating the presenters list. -- SGBailey (talk) 15:32, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Presenters

[edit]

I have stripped the list of presenters down to only the ones with linked articles, and removed the schedule info, in keeping with our list policies. It is possible that a few more of the presenters have articles but were not linked, or are notable enough that they should have articles created for them. If so, please go for it. It does look a bit sparse. --DanielRigal (talk) 19:32, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Presenter list and schedule was added again. Removed due to no presenter being notable 86.171.45.146 (talk) 22:20, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is interesting to see how a featured radio station article WINC (AM) deals with programming and staff. SovalValtos (talk) 23:08, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Marked for deletion

[edit]

There are no sufficient links or references to show that this radio station is worthy of an article. The only reference links to the group the radio station belongs to. 86.171.44.28 (talk) 20:47, 16 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As above, the refs are now non-existent. The only ref was to UKRD who no longer own the radio station. This article doesn't have much going for it, and although Eagle Radio is a popular radio station, there's nothing that makes it worthy of an article? 132.185.160.125 (talk) 09:42, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

How long will it take for Peter Gordon (radio presenter) to merge with Eagle Radio? If it's a case of waiting for someone to add the info to the Eagle Radio article I'm happy to do that? RadioAnorakUK (talk) 07:41, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Eagle Radio Closure

[edit]

The article should be reverted back to Eagle Radio to provide a historical reference, and a description of the takeover and link provided for Greatest Hits Radio

Otherwise this page should be considered for deletion as Greatest Hits Radio has a page with its local variations listed and does not warrant a page for the "Surrey" edition of the national station. Tod55 (talk) 16:49, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you wish to create a page for Eagle Radio's history, please do by by creating a separate article. This article is for GHR Surrey & East Hampshire. Please do not make any further changes to this article. - Funky Snack (Talk) 11:52, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The entire article is about Eagle Radio, it is not about Greatest Hits. There is no point in an article about a local opt out area for a national radio station. Tod55 (talk) 12:10, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Right, so will you be updating all 50+ GHR articles? That's not how it works unfortunately. Although Eagle Radio was notable, the article does include info about the Eagle Radio tenure. - Funky Snack (Talk) 12:18, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have started to look at other articles, it is quite worrying how history is being removed for these old stations, which is not what normally happens. Anyhow, this is how wiki works.... to resolve a dispute you need to state why you feel this national radio station needs an individual article for all it's local opt out areas (particularly this one). If you have a case then the wiki moderators will support you. Tod55 (talk) 12:27, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I know exactly how Wikipedia works. It appears you are clearly a supporter of Eagle Radio having only edited articles for Radio Woking and Eagle Radio itself so I believe there's a conflict of interest somewhere along the line. As mentioned above, please refrain from making any further edits like you did by moving the page. - Funky Snack (Talk) 12:43, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm nothing to do with Eagle Radio, but I do live in the area of the two stations. You do not resolve disputes by throwing insults and ordering people not to do edits, that is the job of the administrators. State your case and we can move on. Tod55 (talk) 13:05, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have stated my case and raised this dispute elsewhere to get views of other editors and admins. In the meantime, please don't make any edits to [[GHR Surrey & East Hampshire. - Funky Snack (Talk) 13:07, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Page restored until dispute resolved. The default is not the changes, or that fact you think you are right. The dispute for this page is here not elsewhere Tod55 (talk) 14:47, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Tod55 & Funky Snack - IMHO I see no harm with the page move - As long as the history's kept and being "past-tensed" then I don't see why this article would need to remain at a now-defunct name?. IMHO the defunct radio station isn't notable in its own right to warrant an article however these are generally kept I believe per the fact they're registered with Ofcom. –Davey2010Talk 15:57, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's really my point, the article is about Eagle Radio, if the article is not titled Eagle Radio there is nothing there about Greatest Hits Radio other than the take over. There are plenty of old radio stations that still have articles after national stations take over their frequency or they close down eg. County Sound Radio (1566 AM) and one which has become greatest hits too - The_Breeze_(radio_network)
There is no point whatsoever for wiki to have a page on "Greatest Hits Radio Surrey and East Hampshire" - who is even going to type that into wiki to search for it? They will go to Greatest Hits Radio the main page which details the local areas. Tod55 (talk) 17:20, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Tod55 - Well you may want to go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Radio Stations and seek a further consensus on this, As it stands I see no reason to keep the old name, Article titles aren't based on "what people search for" - they're based on WP:COMMONNAME, WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and others, If you think the long name is bad here you might want to take a look at this! :). –Davey2010Talk 17:41, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Davey2010 Eagle Radio is no more, "Greatest Hits Radio Surrey and East Hampshire" is not a new radio station, a national radio station has brought all these local stations and closed them and used the frequency for the national Greatest Hits Radio. The surrey and east hampshire bit is for local travel news opt ins and some south england news, the music and presenters are all the same for all of these "stations" throughout the UK. It is a mockery of wikipedia to give them all individual radio station pages because they will never have any new information other than the old station history.
Tod55 - Ah I wasn't aware of that - Having looked at https://planetradio.co.uk/greatest-hits/schedule/ the scheduling is the same across the network - It is indeed basically one radio station simply using various names and obviously various frequencies, I was unaware of this until now so I do now agree the individual pages should all be retained with a new article being created, I've started an RFC over at the above link so I would rather have consensus behind me than to single handedly revert everything, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 19:13, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on Funky Snack - you are calling my edits vandalism? That is a blatant act of bullying which I notice from your history you are quite good at. I have been acting in the interests of wikipedia to maintain the database as a record of not just the current but history too. It seems to me very dangerous that the influx of Greatest Hits Radio Surrey....Kent...Dorset...Yorkshire etc etc at the expense of the history and names of old radio stations is trying to erase history. Greatest Hits Radio has a wiki page it does not need 100 iterations of it by on wikipedia because they do a local travel news. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tod55 (talkcontribs) 17:34, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Tod55 You won't get anywhere with your rudeness and bad attitude. If you're on about the issue with Times Radio, this was a different issue altogether. You shouldn't go making changes to articles (especially moves) without coming up with a consensus first. - Funky Snack (Talk) 07:50, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Funky Snack I was the one restoring the article to it's original, you were the one who kept changing it. Tod55 (talk) 09:04, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, because you shouldn't have done it without forming a consensus first. That's my argument. Funky Snack (Talk | Contribs) 09:05, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm jumping into this discussion because it dovetails with something that emerged at the AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Greatest Hits Radio North Derbyshire. One other user there suggested putting these pages at their last pre-GHR station names, and I suggested that might be a workable solution. What is clear is that there is a need for consensus and it might be time to bring this to WPRS. Raymie (tc) 19:16, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
One other possible solution might be for two separate articles for all of these stations - an article about the station prior to Bauer relaunching them as Greatest Hits Radio and an article about the current station with a brief note about the history of the licence with an additional note linking to that article. Therefore, in this case, there'd be an article about Eagle Radio and most of the Eagle Radio section of this article would be moved to that article with just a sentence or two very briefly outlining the history of the licence.
