Is there any reason this article should not be nominated for deletion? Prof. Gale was not particularly renowned as having give rise to a generation of notable students, nor is he remarkable for his own scientific work. Countless long-tenured faculty have places on campus named after them. Anyone want to make an argument why he should have a WP page? Vaudedoc (talk) 17:20, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added a few references. Prof. Gale is a willing historian who has contributed accounts of his work with his most notable student Robert Noyce who co-founded the integrated circuit, and is the primary contributor to the current state of the Physics department at Grinnell College. I can try to find more sources, if that would help ... ? Smadness (talk) 04:52, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right, but again, Prof. Gale is himself a non-notable scientist with apparently a singular notable student. While he may have been "the primary contributor to the current state of the Physics department at Grinnel," that department itself is not particularly notable. By these rationales, every instructor of someone who later went on to accomplishments and every person who was integral to the development of building of any organization would qualify for a page. Any last arguments before I nominate for deletion? --Vaudedoc (talk) 13:49, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
