Strike the Nicotine reference

[edit]

I think we should strike the Nicotine rumor reference. First, this is the first I've heard of it in regards to Georgia Coffee products, and I lived in Japan for eight years. Second, there's no supporting citations or documentation. Third, the rumors I heard were in regards to other products such as Calorie Mate drink or Black Black gum. Fourth, in the cases of both products I just mentioned, the source of the confusion was that both products contained a form Vitamin B3 - nicotinamide adenine -, which is thought to help with hangovers.

Jannine Myers asked Coke about nicotine in Georgia coffees and they had this to say:[1]

Thank you again for contacting The Coca-Cola Company. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Please be assured that Georgia Coffee flavors do not contain nicotine. All Coca-Cola brand products, including Georgia brand coffees, are wholesome beverages manufactured in compliance with the federal law governing food safety and labeling, the laws of all the states, and the laws of over 200 countries throughout the world where they are sold. We hope that this information helpful and assures your confidence in our brands. We appreciate your patronage and invite you to contact us again should you have further questions or concerns.

Aside from their loose definition of wholesome I think that clears things up. Another possible source of the rumor could be a marketing ploy that saw cigarettes sold alongside coffee.[2]
