Did Clarendon really die surrounded by his work? As far as I know, he went to bed and, some days later, died there from esentially a combination of old age and exhaustion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.57.195 (talk) 17:08, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I just came across that when tidying up the article. I suspect that "he was found dead at his desk surrounded by work" was just a trope of death announcements even if the actual circumstances were a bit less dignified.Paulturtle (talk) 03:59, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
