The phrase "online-only" appearing on the opening sentence of this article
Hi, I'm relatively new here, and may not be aware of all of Wikipedias many rules, please excuse my breaking of the "3RR" rule. I am not also not familiar with the concept of several editors reverting a factual and critical portion of information which seemingly belongs exactly where I placed it within the opening sentence. I don't wish to make offensive assumptions, but it seems like this page is guarded by several individuals who may be particularly like-minded in their interest of this topic? I don't know how else to put it, please excuse me. May I ask why any of you may believe my edit is out of place and should be consistently removed, despite my reversal of your actions, which also have no valid excuse as to why my edits were removed in the first place? Again dont wish to seem offensive, but this seems highly unnatural and a bit suspicious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.51.145 (talk) 23:26, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
It also seems that people are specifically taking turns in some kind of coordinated fashion in order to not violate this "3RR" rule. This is only an assumption due to reasonable suspicion, and I certainly don't wish for anyone to take offense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.51.145 (talk) 01:12, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- I think you may be directing this comment in part at me and to be clear - I stumbled across these edits while doing anti-vandalism patrol. I reverted purely on the basis that the content was being repeatedely re-added that was clearly disputed without a discussion having occurred here. I have no opinion on the actual content dispute, nor do I believe I have interacted with any of the involved editors previously. I would suggest to remember to assume good faith when interacting with other editors.
- The onus is on the individual who seeks to include disputed content to justify why that content should be included - the purpose of this talk page discussion should be to discuss the content, not the editors - so I'd encourage you to elaborate on why you feel that this content should be added. Best, Darren-M talk 09:57, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- Ah yes, thanks for clarifying, I had thought the opposite for some reason with regards to justifying my edit. But anyway, there has been discussion to some degree about this matter, but done entirely in the comments section. To where a person reverting my edits provided an excuse which I would consider highly inaccurate. Again, reasonable suspicion. Also, if you pay attention to my previous comments here in this discussion, I do specifically ask why the edit has been consistently removed. What is the reasoning behind this? The excuse given in the comments section by a single editor also seems highly inaccurate to me. I would even say obviously inaccurate. So please, discuss. Do you wish for me to copy and paste the comments for you?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.51.145 (talk) 17:34, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- Making comments back-and-forth in edit summaries isn't sufficient - if content is disputed, it should be discussed here on the talk page and not in a game of ping pong.

- I would strongly urge you to assume good faith. Concepts like "reasonable suspicion" do not exist on Wikipedia. You should approach every interaction with another editor under the assumption that they are seeking to act positively and impove the encyclopaedia.

@75.82.51.145: The introductory paragraph states that it is a gacha game. All gacha games are online only, so I fail to see how Genshin Impact is so unusual that it requires a 'Online only' NightFire19 (talk) 01:39, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- Right, so why do you feel the urge to consistently revert a minor clarification of this games mechanics? This game shares similarities with other titles too, I also believe more people think this titles shares more similarity to "The legend of Zeldaa, Breath of the Wild" which I can source from multiple sites as proof of this similarity and popular belief. Zelda, and just about all other mainstream titles similar to Zelda, such as Skyrim and many others, all do not require internet access, so I certainly feel this clarification I added was needed. Im still not seeing why this needs to be consistently reverted in a such fashion where no reasonable excuse is given and which also still seems to be a coordinated effort to me. Why is this topic fiercely guarded? Is it a commercial interest? I don't wish to make offensive assumptions, but this certainly is what my logic dictates. Is it safe to ignore any assumptions of good faith at this moment? This is a serious question, because Im actually not sure. How else would you explain this? My original edit seems like I was adding highly obvious information to this topic, being that I am gamer myself. But apparently, not just one, but several others disagree to this? Will review this soon. I can already tell there are some real problems with it, particularily its reception and incredibly long plot section, but I'll address that in the actual review. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 01:38, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
- I thought I'd chime in with my thoughts: I think Characters and setting should be merged into a single setting; there's a lot of unnecessary detail in there! ImaginesTigers (talk) 18:14, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
- Agreed, I've added it to the list of issues I have. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 20:45, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
NightFire19 I've had a look through the article. Though I have several problems with it, I've found two really big ones that need immediate attention to:
- Lots of things are missing citations, specifically the entirety of the "setting" and "characters" subsections (which I'd also merge into one) have no citations. For an article like this , that is a real problem, and lots of the writing feels like WP:GAMECRUFT. It doesn't do a proper job at explaining these characters and the significance they hold, and it's not really that interesting to read. What significance does Liyue Qixing hold, for example? Why are they worth mentioning?
- The reception is really weak. Why is it so short? The box lists reviews from eight different publications and only a few of them are actually in the next. This seems like a pretty big game, so I don't see the reason to have a reception area that small on an article that is otherwise pretty extensive. There's also an unnecessary amount of subsections, which can easily be merged with other parts of the page (ex. "Controversy and censorship" can easily be put into "Development and release", that's typically where it belongs). Subsections are intended for pages that have a lot of info on subjects related to other sections — I find them rather useless here since there's not a lot of info that warrants having them.
I have others as well, but I'm still reading over the page so I'll add them all here when I'm done. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 20:45, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking over the article. The character section being overly detailed was just someone adding in extra details to the characters, even though the edit was reverted. I'm relatively new to this and was engaged in an edit war over someone who insisted on putting "online-only" on the first sentence even though it goes against manual of style. I decided not to keep reverting as I had better things to do in the article such as making sure the citations are from reliable sources and properly sourcing the gameplay section. I will make sure to work on sourcing the setting/characters section and merging them. As for reception I did list as many reviews from the listed template, as well as from other reputable sources like Forbes and Washington Post. I didn't include them in the section itself because I felt like it would become reptitive and redundant to go through the list of things each reviewer liked/didn't like as there's tons of overlap. I will definitely add to that section though, and thank you for feedback. I've been doing a lot of work on this article and it was recently bumped up to a "B" quality rating so I wanted to see what needed to be done to elevate this to Good Article. NightFire19 (talk) 21:15, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
- Small update, since there's no reputable source that contains setting for the setting of the game, I've had to go over the game's dialogue and cite directly from it, so it'll be a slow process. Since my last post there have been edits that keep adding 'gamecruft' to the characters section.NightFire19 (talk) 02:08, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
- I really recommending starting a discussion about edit warring on the Talk page (if there isn't one already). If the page isn't stable by the end of the GA review, and people are fighting over content, it could fail because of that. Better to deal with it now! - NightFire19 Been meaning to get back to this for a while, but unfortunately, I feel I'm not really able to go forward with this. It's not that this is a bad page or it doesn't meet the GA criteria, but its length and amount of content makes me feel I'm unable to really give this a proper review. Are you okay with me requesting for a second opinion on this? I'm sure whoever else decides to review can do a better job than myself. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 01:35, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Should the sacrifice of the Jade Chamber be mentioned in the plot section?
Title. I recently made an edit in which I added "by sacrificing the Jade Chamber, a floating palace in the skies of Liyue" to the sentence "He summons Osial, an ancient god once defeated by Rex Lapis to lure the latter out, but the combined forces of Traveler, the Liyue Qixing and Adepti defeat it." in the plot section. However, I am unsure about the consensus of this change, and I would like to hear what other editors think about it. Since the sacrifice of the Jade Chamber is a relatively important event, I think it would be a good idea to mention it. --KingErikII (Talk page) 11:47, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say it's that important to the plot overall. If you look at the Liyue paragraph I left out stuff like Traveler going and asking the Adepti to help in order to make the plot as concise as possible, since the plot will eventually encompass 7 regions and would become excessively long if it was that detailed.NightFire19 (talk) 16:57, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

Gacha Game
Please explain how adding "Gacha game" to game genres on the infobox is considered vandalism when the game page describes it as having Gacha game mechanics. Matthew Cenance (talk) 04:27, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Because "Gacha Game" is not a video game genre.NightFire19 (talk) 18:06, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- NightFire19, that shouldn't be an argument against it. If several sources call it a gacha game then it could be listed here and with a section created on that article too. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 00:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Then if MatthewCenance feels that Gacha game should be in the genre section, they should create a section on the list of video game genres for Gacha games, then add it to the infobox. NightFire19 (talk) 21:45, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- I went through and add Gacha games to the list of video game genres, the genre tag feels right especially when the gameplay section includes mentioning gacha mechanics. It feels glossed over in the article being that this is its primary source of revenue. Spikeylegs (talk) 21:00, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Since this is a foreign-language game, even though there is an English-language title, it appears to be based on the Japanese title from reading the article. If that is true, then should we add either of these templates to the top or both to show the translation? Aasim (talk) 09:25, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, this is definitely an unusual situation. The reading for the characters 原神 would be genshin in Japanese, which would lend more support for using {{nihongo}}. Maybe it'd be easier to solve this by not using a template and just use (原神 in Chinese and Japanese)? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:04, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- Love it. Thanks for the change. Aasim (talk) 20:20, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
I changed the article title again to make use of a {{CJKV}} (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese) template instead of {{Nihongo foot}}. I considered adding the Korean title and its romanization into that template, but I ultimately left it out. Any thoughts? theinstantmatrix (talk) 13:23, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Theinstantmatrix: Looks fine to me (and I learned about a new template!). I'm iffy about adding Korean as I'm not sure if its pronunciation differs greatly from Chinese or Japanese; I think it makes sense to include Chinese because that's the game's original language, and Japanese because it's used as the common pronunciation in the English-speaking parts of the world. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 17:07, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
I removed some outstanding claims under Genshin Impact#Security concerns
Really outstanding claims about lack of account security need to be verifiable. If a website like Target gets breached, you see it on national news. Same with apps like TikTok and Steam. Outstanding claims need multiple reliable authoritative sources on the topic.
I agree that Genshin Impact's username-and-password approach is bad, but encyclopedic claims must be verifiable and traced to multiple sources. A website called "The Gamer" that discusses video games in general is in no ways an expert on web security 101. Aasim (talk) 07:34, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
Plot section has several inconsistencies when it comes to addressing the Traveler.
I have noticed the plot section addresses the Traveler as both "the Traveler" and "Traveler". This strikes me as very inconsistent, so I have added the article "The" to all cases of "Traveler" in the plot section. I believe "Traveler" by itself is ungrammatical in this case, as it is not a name. Feel free to discuss this here. --KingErikII (Talk page) 09:32, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

How should the prologue for chapter II be explained in the plot section?
I just updated the plot section by adding a part of the prologue for chapter II, which was made available very recently. I am wondering how the prologue should be explained, so the plot section does not become excessively long. Maybe adding level 5 headings relevant to the different parts of the plot is possible? --KingErikII (Talk page) 00:48, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

- The game is online-only and features a limited multiplayer mode allowing up to four players to play together. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Android, iOS in September 2020, for PlayStation 5 in April 2021, and for Nintendo Switch sometime later. - this seems a bit more important than the bit about character switching and gatcha. - The story follows a twin, referred to as the Traveler, who has traveled across many worlds with their twin but has become separated from them by an unknown god in Teyvat- well, it doesn't follow a twin, it follows a person who has been seperated from their twin. - is there anything more relevant about the player character? - From what I've seen about the game, it's rather vague about any specifics related to Traveler, possibly so the player can place themself as Traveler. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) (Stupidity by me) 19:38, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Drive-by comments from Piotrus
I am somewhat interested in this, so here are my few cents. One of the main concerns I have is that the current article is not 'comprehensive' enough when it comes to describing topics that the players care about. First, characters - they are both very important to players and the main source of revenue for the company, yet the article doesn't even list them at all. Second, I think each version of the game should have a brief description, probably in a 'versions' section (to be added) to the development section. Both of those would be very easy to source - each character, and each version generates dozens of articles in the gaming media.
Another issue I note is that the plot section is unreferenced. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- I don't really see how it matter what players want - this is an encylopedic article about a subject. Are there secondary sources that talk about the characters? If so, then sure, if not, no need. Plot sections are generally sourced to the media itself and are usually unsourced. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:11, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- I can confirm that there are secondary sources about the characters, after doing a cursory search. Although, the plot is overly long (>700 words) and doesn't seem to go anywhere or have a proper conclusion as one would expect from a proper plot summary. The development section as it currently exists is a bit thin as well. If I take over, can I have an extension of time so that I could familiarize myself with the outstanding issues, and hunt for more sources which aren't discussed in the article? - Lee Vilenski, I wouldn't be asking for WP:OR. As Haleth already noted, there are plenty of sources about characters, past and announced. The problem is, to some degree, their sheer amount and the need to update the relevant section on a monthly basis - every month between one to four new characters are announced, and they each get quite a lot of coverage. Now, their quality is generally meh and they are pretty similar, many are from clickbait sites, but the buzz is there. I'd oppose having articles about them (given the quality of sources), but I think their names and brief descriptions need to be somewhere. A dedicated section under plot summary with a list of playable characters would likely be best. To end, here are few sample sources from the more reliable outlets about just one of the recently characters: https://www.siliconera.com/ayaka-moveset-feels-helpful-even-at-lower-levels-in-genshin-impact/ , https://www.pcgamer.com/genshin-impact-ayaka-build-banner/ , https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2021/07/21/genshin-impact-ayaka-build-the-best-builds-artifacts-and-swords/ , https://www.pcgamesn.com/genshin-impact/ayaka-banner-and-abilities , https://screenrant.com/best-ayaka-build-genshin-impact-weapons-artifacts-talents/ , https://gamerant.com/genshin-impact-ayaka-banner/ , https://techraptor.net/gaming/guides/genshin-impact-ayaka-build-guide ... and there are more. Not to mention stuff like dedicated reddit channel for this character, you can buy her cosplay set and other merchandise, there are youtube reviews, etc. Sure, the latter we don't use as sources, the point is it's "big" and while, again, I don't think we should have dedicated articles about such characters (I don't think the quality of soft news-like coverage here is sufficient for notability), they need to be briefly mentioned in the article. Ping me if you need help working on this, User:Haleth. PS. Recently a crossover event with a character was annouced, there is a bit of controversy and even more coverage then usual, with https://kotaku.com/horizon-s-aloy-joins-genshin-impact-is-cute-as-a-butto-1847343864 , https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/genshin-impact-first-free-five-star-character-is-aloy-from-horizon-zero-dawn , https://www.pcgamer.com/genshin-impact-is-getting-a-horizon-zero-dawn-crossover/ , https://www.thegamer.com/aloy-horizon-zero-dawn-forbidden-west-genshin-impact-bad/ , https://www.dualshockers.com/genshin-impact-lore-fans-unhappy/ - and note this second set of examples is about the character who is not even out yet, but will be released on 1-2 months (no specific date given AFAIK). - There's over 70 characters. Is this not more suitable to a List of Genshin Impact article? Do these characters have particular levels of impact on the plot? If not, that's pretty WP:FANCRUFTy. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:13, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
- With regards to Piotrus' comments, another article titled Genshin Impact post-release content, patterned after something like Destiny 2 post-release content, can and should cover the aforementioned material. It's a game as a service, so new characters, regions and updates are constantly being introduced, and because there is regular analysis by a lot of reliable independent sources, I do not consider it trivial or "fancrufty" since it does not run afoul of WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE. For a full list of playable character, I agree that a Characters of Genshin Impact article should document that kind of information albeit with brevity, something akin to Characters in the Super Smash Bros. series. The characters do have something of an impact on the game's various story content, but most importantly, there is coverage that talks about the real money pooling that is involved with their acquisitions, and there is often coverage of numerous in-game elements from a real world cultural perspective. This article is a good summary of Genshin Impact 6 months after launch. For now, I'd like to stay within the scope of the GA review. An article about the base game should be more high level in scope and less focused on the minutiae. Haleth (talk) 02:42, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski: it appears that NightFire19 has been editing the Genshin Impact article just a few days ago. Given that they are the original nominator and appears to be active on Wikipedia again, I'll withdraw from making any proposed improvements on the article as the nomination no longer appears to be abandoned and I don't want to step on anyone's toes. That said, if you do not believe that the nominator is communicating properly or addressing any of your concerns about the article in a timely manner, feel free to fail the nomination, as I personally believe that it is not ready to be a GA-class article and requires more sourcing and work due to the breadth and scope of the subject. - Lee Vilenski, I'll also ping authors of Draft:Characters of Genshin Impact, User:Awesome Aasim and User:Ahthga Yram. Mention of incomplete story
Hello! So I noticed that the article doesn't actually mention that the game's story is still incomplete and new story lines are still being added. This seems like it would be relevant information to add to the plot section (or possibly part of the gameplay section) as most games with story will have a complete story upon being fully released and going out of beta. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) (Stupidity by me) 19:43, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- I found some sources about that (Screenrant: 1, GamesRadar+: 2) , whereas the question (at least for me) is how to organize them. From my point of view, adding them at the end of the plot seems uncoordinated since the whole plot section is and should be presented without any citations. I'm also not sure whether adding them at the end of the setting section is a good idea.--ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 11:53, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

"Forget your password" e-mail vulnerability.
Similar to the phone number security issue, there was also a security concern regarding "Forget your Password" page. Normally, in both Genshin and in many websites, only a few letters are shown about the e-mail, with the rest being censored with asteriks. However, in Genshin's "Forget your Password" page, if you inspected the page with any web browser's using the Inspect Tool, you could see the full e-mail address, uncensored. There was an explained Reddit thread here, and a news website stating that it was fixed here. Gabrielwoj (talk) 22:02, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

Major Controversies skipped
The article fails to mention some MAJOR controversies in the player base both online and off the game regarding censorship concerns, wherein many feared that Mihoyo was desexualizing many characters, mainly the female ones. Cases of censorship stated were as follows:
- Reducing of Rosaria's bust size (pre-release)
- Removal of definition/shading for Lisa & Jean's cleavage (pre-release)
- Alterations to Fishcl & Klee's underpants (pre-release)
- Alterations to Mona's tights (pre-release)
- Alterations to Ayaka's panties(post-release)
- Removal of Shenhe's belly button (post-release)
Alongside these
- The Major censorship of outfits and China and the subsequent release of these altered outfits on the global servers
- The Permanent replacement of NPC model outfits and the outfits of characters in cutscenes to the censored Chinese versions both for Global & CN players.
This issue is still unresolved and was quite more popular than some other controversies listed in the article, you may also include petitions by players asking Mihoyo to add a toggle for Global servers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.129.164.250 (talk) 09:41, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Is there any reason for that? I am planning to upload the game's cover art for this article. Neocorelight (Talk) 08:35, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- I agree that the article should use the game's cover art. As the footnote for "Cover art" in WP:NFCI outlines, RfCs (as well as widespread practice across our media articles) has determined that WP:NFCC#8 for cover artwork is met by
by virtue of the marketing, branding, and identification information
that it conveys. Some edit summaries in the recent back-and-forth allude to NFCC#1, but that doesn't apply here since the logo and cover art are not equivalents, and serve different encyclopedic purposes (the ones that NFCI lists). — Goszei (talk) 06:20, 12 March 2022 (UTC)

I want to add more names to the composer list since Yu-Peng Chen is not the only composer to work on Genshin Impact. These names are Yijun Jiang, Dimeng Yuan, Qian Ding, and Xin Zhao. Genshin Impact's soundtrack gets officially released on NetEase Cloud Music. Here are music pages that show the involvement of other composers: Yijun Jiang, Dimeng Yuan, Qian Ding, and Xin Zhao.
Not user generated. On Genshin Impact's official Weibo account, they link directly to NetEase Cloud Music because they officially release their music there. See this post where NetEase is linked at 网页链接. The individual track links I posted earlier came from that album.

Creation of a List of Genshin Impact Characters
Should the article "List of Genshin Impact Characters" be created? List of Fate/Grand Order characters is a list of characters for a gacha game. There are currently over 20 playable characters with voice actors listed. Initially I did not want to create this list because English Voice actors were not announced, but now that they have been would the article meet criteria for creation? NightFire19 (talk) 23:26, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- NightFire19, Genshin Impact does seem to be going for the "lots of characters" route (as is the norm for gacha games), but what would each entry for each character include? Name? Voice actor? Element? Trivia? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 06:46, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Tenryuu Most likely name, voice actor, and a small summary of the character. That being said I'm still trying to figure out how to properly word and format the characters section of this article and whether or not to include characters featured in the optional "story quests" that the game has. At the moment I just look at other Good Article/Featured Articles to see how I should approach it.NightFire19 (talk) 13:07, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Tenryuu, I'm on the fence about including their in-game elements but any sort of trivia about them should 100% be avoided. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:49, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Dissident93, perhaps "trivia" was the wrong word to use. At this point I think only characters that are pertinent to the actual story should be considered (unsure about characters like Barbara for example, as she appears in the main story but doesn't really play a significance aside from guarding the Holy Lyre). —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:13, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
There's a Draft:List of Genshin Impact characters now. But I think it should be condensed into something more like Characters of Final Fantasy XV with more Conception and Reception areas. If there are hundreds of crossover characters as with Fire Emblem Heroes or Injustice (video game) or Super Smash Bros., then no, do not make such a list. Similarly if it's an open-ended MMORPG like World of Warcraft or League of Legends where there are hundreds of characters, then no. AngusW🐶🐶F (bark • sniff) 15:51, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Edit Character List at Draft:List of Genshin Impact characters
Can someone add more information at this page? I, while not the original creator of the page, would like to see this article in mainspace. It is missing sources, but a lot of the information appears to come right from the video game and miHoYo's website. I believe we should only detail playable characters here and a few important story/non-playable characters, but that is it. We are not a dumping ground of information, and we need more information. Each Genshin Impact character has gotten lots of press coverage immediately after it was released for their attack mechanics and for how helpful their skills are. - Awesome Aasim, this really isn't worth an article if all you can find are primary sources and/or character announcement articles. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:47, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- I will consider a nomination for deletion and probably just add a "Characters" section. Hopefully someone can find sources. Aasim (talk) 20:29, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- The characters section is already included in the setting section. I've only included the most important of characters and organizations.NightFire19 (talk) 04:51, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose, probably due for not being 'notable'. Also, why we should put all the characters in this page? Or list down the most important characters of the game. The lesser risk of putting all the characters and the story here is using references that is copyrighted. 『Umay loads 🅱️🅾🅰️🆖 』-Yram (talk) 04:25, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

- Without putting forward an opinion as to whether or not adding information to that draft is, I'm going to point out that with the way Genshin Impact is a gacha game, any character section is going to balloon substantially with each major patch that introduces more story (and more characters). It then becomes a question of the standard of notability the character has amongst all the other characters relatively speaking. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 05:59, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Ahthga Yram @Awesome Aasim@Dissident93@NightFire19@Tenryuu Just a ping (for some it maybe double, sorry) that I've mainspaced this Draft. It deserves to be visible (and if anyone disagrees, AFD it instead of hiding it in the draftspace). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:48, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Piotrus If you think it is ready for mainspace, go ahead. I was told on Discord there is some Wikipedia:GAMECRUFT stuff that needs to be removed or reconsidered, as we are not a dumping ground for information, but I think basically all playable characters are notable. If this gets sent to AFD I'll probably advocate for draftifying it again as this topic has already been demonstrated to be notable. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis ❄️ 04:39, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Awesome Aasim I think it is a fair side-article, so I'll probably vote keep although I'll consider all arguments. In either case, I mainspaced it now; the key point is that such articles deserve a chance at mainspace, rather then being hidden in the draftspace for months or years. A trial by fire (AFD) is better than being consigned to such shadows. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:46, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- It definitely has a lot of WP:GAMECRUFT issues (I.E. their element, weapon, and nation of origin is a better fit for a Wikia), but I think the page can be moved to mainspace if all of that can be cleaned up. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 17:35, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Remove the insult section
There is an insult section about Genshin's players and the game. It's offensive to the players of this game and it lacks relevance to any subject. It's not serious. I believe this is a malicious attempt to insult people through Wikipedia.

There's been a lot of controversy about Dehya since her launch. Already beta leaks had her kit as underwhelming, but the final product was somehow even worse than feared. Her weak auto-attacks, terrible Pyro application, janky burst targeting, jumping cancelling her burst, a passive that lets her die off-field and lack of any real role despite her being canonically a powerful mercenary have definitely disappointed and angered a chunk of the player base.
If you look under the replies of any recent Twitter post from the official Genshin Impact account, then you'll see lots of replies from people with the #FixDehya hashtag, normally accompanied by some poster outlining some changes they want to see with the character's kit.

Regarding Controversy#Dehya:
I believe that while this section is important enough to be necessary, the current content does not meet Wiki standards - in general it is too biased and subjective, and must be rewritten to be in a more objective/neutral point of view (as per article policies).
1) "Many fans" - who/how many? The quantifier is vague and nebulous: is it thousands (e.g. the 20.5k members of the "Dehya Mains" subreddit)? How many people play Genshin Impact? This undefined "many" could really not be that large of a group when compared to the general playerbase.
2) "Underpowered" - In what way? Compared to who or what? Again, this doesn't really describe anything.
Together, this frames the alleged "controversy" as a major issue that affected most of the player base, which is categorically not true.
3) "Premium rarity" - This is emphatic and adds nothing but contributing to an inflammatory framing.
4) "Dehya's dedicated subreddit"- Again, not objective. There are multiple subreddits about the character Dehya.
5) "Despite these efforts, HoYoverse did not make an official response." - Again, very moralistic framing, implying that HoYoverse's lack of response is "negative", and that the "many fans" response is "positive". These viewpoints are subjective. 111.220.70.145 (talk) 06:44, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- The whole sentence about a campaign originating on reddit isn't really properly substantiated in the first place. Some of the sources mention reddit, though notably not the source cited for that statement, but none of them claim that a campaign originated there, nor do they claim there was any sort of organized campaign behind the response on social media sites. 2604:3D09:A282:1D00:0:0:0:D8E8 (talk) 10:31, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
Pop Up Stores
I think either someone else or I should add in the small fact that Genshin Impact hosts the “Teyvat Goods” store, a small pop-up store that sells merchandise and then closes down every few months or so.

Alleged Venti memo
in the Genshin Impact#Controversies section, it is claimed that "In a September 2021 memo for a state-backed training course for Chinese game developers, the character Venti was used as an example of an "effeminate man" that would not be allowed under increasingly strict government regulations on video game content." 3 sources are listed, including South China Morning Post. I do not see Venti or Genshin Impact mentioned once in the SCMP post. Out of the other two sources, only one mentions Venti or Genshin Impact, but it is a site that does not look reliable and uses the SCMP as proof for its statement, even though the SCMP post says nothing about it, and the memo mentioned by this site leads to a dead link. Looking for proof on the Internet of this memo also turns up no reliable results. Perhaps such a memo existed or exists, but if there is no reliable proof for it, this section should be removed. Jaguarnik (talk) 03:05, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- And in any case, it is not a "controversy", so it probably shouldn't be included in that section at all.Jaguarnik (talk) 03:31, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Controversy section
I went in and cleaned up the controversy section, and I'm beginning to wonder if some of this stuff should just be deleted. I think the Elliot Gindi discussion and the security concerns are worth mentioning, and I also think that the accusations of colorism and political censorship should be noted. I'm less inclined to believe that fans throwing bellyaches 'cuz they didn't get x, y, and z should be mentioned. Thoughts?--Gen. Quon[Talk] 04:40, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- I would agree with removing of at least some of it. The articles about Dehya don't say much about the controversy other than "people on Reddit are angry" which doesn't seem like a notable controversy. Perhaps it can be mentioned briefly in the "colorism" section, since apparently it's mentioned in a few articles that people believe Dehya's poor gameplay design is due to colorism. And I'm not too sure about the Zhongli and Google Classroom controversies either.Jaguarnik (talk) 04:47, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

1. Change Lady Furina to None in the seven nations table with a footnote stating that Focalors tasked Furina with impersonating her for nearly 500 years to prevent a cataclysmic prophecy from coming true, but Furina is not the Hydro Archon and Furina has never been the Hydro Archon's name.
2. Add a footnote to the Focalors under the seven nations table to mention that Focalors is dead as of version 4.2.
3. Add this to the Fontaine story section as the story has been updated (simplify it if you want to, the new update was very large and I don't know how to make this shorter):
The Traveler and Paimon leave the Fortress of Meropide and discover that an above ground location was flooded with Primordial Seawater, leading to multiple casualties. Neuvillete confronts Furina with this information and asks why she has taken no action to prevent the casualties, to which she gives only a vague response and tells Neuvilette to stop questioning her. The Traveler visits Furina in thr location where the flood of Primordial Seawater took place and asks her why she has taken no action to mitigate the prophecy. She continues to evade the question and is brought to trial by the Traveler for being a fraud who was never the true Hydro Archon. Neuvillete finds her guilty, and when the Oratrice is consulted, it finds the Hydro Archon guilty and sentences her to death without ruling on Furina.
When attempting to stop the Oratrice from carrying out the death sentence, the Traveler is teleported to a location where they view Furina's memories and learn that Focalors tasked Furina with impersonating her to prevent the prophecy from coming true. Neuvillete is then teleported to a location where he talks with the real Focalors and learns that she told Furina to impersonate her, and that the Oratrice has sentenced her to death because the Hydro Archon before her had created the citizens of Fontaine from the Primordial Seawater, an action deemed to be sinful, and the prophecy is occurring because the Heavenly Principles seeks to eliminate the citizens of Fontaine who were created without permission. When Focalors dies, Neuvillete regains all of his dragon power and uses it to stop the prophecy by turning Fontaine's citizens into real humans and enlisting the Traveler's help in defeating a monster that has been causing the Primordial Seawater to rise. Fontaine is then flooded temporarily, but the citizens do not dissolve, and the water recedes after a rescue mission had just started.
4. Add a footnote to the "Truth Amongst Pages of Purana" text stating that "The Sumeru storyline concluded and Fontaine storyline started without the release of a Truth Amongst Pages of Purana chapter, despite it being shown in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail trailer." 67.204.150.79 (talk) 01:27, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Neuvillete talks with the real Focalors and learns that she told Furina to impersonate her, and that the Oratrice has sentenced her to death because the Hydro Archon before her had created the citizens of Fontaine from the Primordial Seawater, an action deemed to be sinful, and the prophecy is occurring because the Heavenly Principles seeks to eliminate the citizens of Fontaine who were created without permission. When Focalors dies, Neuvillete regains his power and stops the prophecy by turning Fontaine's citizens into real humans and enlisting the Traveler's help in defeating a monster that has been causing the Primordial Seawater to rise. Fontaine is then flooded temporarily, but the citizens do not dissolve, and the water recedes after a rescue mission had just started.

Fontaine's Hydro Archon Seat
As of the version 4.2 trailer, the Hydro Archon seat no longer exists. The article should reflect this change as soon as possible. GGUltima (talk) 03:06, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- Well, the seat once exists. Add a footnote to reflect the abdication would suffice, but that would mean adding more footnotes, since Zhongli has also resigned as an archon, and what about previous archons? Shouldn't they also hold a place? I think we can keep it as clean as it is. These footnotes would be left for the Fandom Wiki and other sites to take care of. Supergrey1 (talk) 08:49, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- Focalors is dead, Zhongli only resigned, it's a large difference. 67.204.150.79 (talk) 08:35, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- First of all, Focalors is not Furina. We still don't know Focalors' full name, so the table should be updated to clarify that anyways. This was the case before completing any of the quests, so it should be straightforward enough.
- Second, as others have pointed out, she's dead now along with her throne. There is no Hydro archon anymore. She gave her authority to Neuvillette, the Hydro Sovereign/Dragon. This only happened, however, after the events of Masquerade of the Guilty. If you're keeping her in the table for historical purposes, then you should do the same for Makoto, Rukkhadevata, Egeria, etc to be consistent. I don't recommend cluttering the table like this, though. So just clarify that there is no longer a Hydro archon. MuggyForecast (talk) 14:23, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, clarification is needed, but I still prefer a footnote instead of deleting the Hydro archon line. For Makoto, etc. it seems that your definition of “current” means the “reality” after newest storyline. To keep things clean (so that the table can still display “seven current archons”), we can define “current” as the “reality” at the start of the game. Anything happened after can be put into footnotes. How does that sound? Supergrey1 (talk) 01:46, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have added footnotes to some archons. You can check if it suits your request. Supergrey1 (talk) 02:26, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
- I think your solution is fine. I still would've preferred if the table was consistent at a set point in time. (For example, at the start of the game. While alive, Focalors wasn't Furina then.) But there aren't rules for this, and the table does get the point across. So it's good enough. MuggyForecast (talk) 09:38, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
Development Region Order

The Development section lists countries in the order of Inazuma, Sumeru, Liyue, Mondstadt, Fontaine, Snezhnaya, Natlan, & Khaenri'ah. However, the typical order used elsewhere in the article is Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, Snezhnaya, & Khaenri'ah. The order isn't an important point of this section, so it should be consistent with the generally accepted order used elsewhere in the community and the article. - It's stated here on the Genshin Impact website that Zhongli is "Wangsheng Funeral Parlor mysterious consultant", and I can also confirm that it's stated in-game. In Act II of the Liyue Archon Quest, Zhongli is called a "consultant to an organization known as Wangsheng" by Childe (checked the game's Archive). In my opinion, better ways to describe him may be "funeral parlor consultant" or "Wangsheng Funeral Parlor consultant". LaonaGrouchini (talk) 04:07, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Within Genshin Impact, to obtain new characters and weapons, there is a wishing system for the players to utilize. There are 3 types of currencies. Primogems, Acquaint Fate, and Intertwined Fate. Every 160 primogems can be turned into either an Acquaint Fate or Intertwined Fate. Acquaint Fates are used on standard banners while Intertwined Fates are used for limited time character and weapon banners. Each limited time banner features specific characters along with their weapons for players to wish for. When pulling on a limited time character banner, there is a pity system where if a player does not get a 5-star character within 89 pulls, the 90th is guaranteed to be a 5-star. The five star has a 50% chance of being the character on the banner and a 50% chance to be a standard banner 5 star character. For weapon banners, the pity system is dropped by 10 pulls and has a 75% to be one of the two weapons featured and 25% to be a standard 5 star weapon. There is a soft pity system where the chances of pulling for a 5-star character increases as the number of pulls passes 75 for character and 65 for weapons. LLTJoker (talk) 20:51, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Due to WP:VGSCOPE points #3 and #7, Wikipedia articles don't include detailed information about the exact chances and in-game currency costs, as that information is mostly useful to players and overly detailed to non-players. Thank you for deciding to contribute to Wikipedia, though! QuietCicada chirp 20:56, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
Translation of Liyue as a name
I seem to be in disagreement with another editor over how to translate Liyue as a name. The editor in question changed "jade moon" to "lapis lazuli", however I do not believe this to be entirely accurate. I think "glazed moon" or even the original "jade moon" are still more appropriate. My arguments are as follows:
1. Liyue does not have a meaning as a word in Chinese, unlike Inazuma, which is an actual word in Japanese that means "lightning" (稲妻).
2. While the first Hànzì of Liyue, 璃 (Lí), does indeed have "lapis lazuli" as a meaning, it can also be translated as "jade" using the radical 玉, or simply "rock".
3. Translating Liyue as "lapis lazuli" essentially ignores the second Hànzì, 月 (Yuè), which means "moon".
4. The official Chinese title of Disc 1: Glazed Moon Over the Tides, from the OST album Jade Moon Upon a Sea of Clouds, is 琉璃明月照海平; 琉璃明月 is used here for "Glazed Moon".
I hope a consensus can be reached as for what translation should be stated next to Liyue in the "Development" section of the article. KingErikII (Talk page) 18:47, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Many articles can be translated from zh wiki
It seems there are quite decent articles about most characters and main regions on zh, to be translated if anyone has time and will. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:29, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- It's an old topic, actually. Read these two discussions (1, 2) and you'll see why editors are now hesitant to translate more articles. Simply put, the WP:GNG sets the bar very high and many character articles may not reach the criteria for individual notability. Region articles, however, may have reached the notability bars, though active editors here are already having a headache saving the character articles, thus either didn't pay attention to them yet, or were afraid of another round of AfD hearing. Supergrey1 (talk) 07:56, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

- @Piotrus: Being the guy who translated the Zhongli and Hu Tao articles with the former being nearly deleted if it weren't for SuperGrey1's findings. Besides cleaning up my translation of Ayaka's article to see if it can get mainspace, yeah many of the articles within the Chinese wiki and my own sources don't really see any real potential due to the extremely strict standards of video game characters articles (I learnt this the hard way). That being said, I do think that there could be potential in translating the articles for Yun Jin, Wanderer/Scaramouche, Neuvillette, and Furina. I could also maybe see Nahida making the cut with a few more refinement. SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 18:22, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- @SuperSkaterDude45 I am somewhat of a deletionist when it comes to fictional articles, but TL;DR as long as we have stuff that goes beyond mentions in passing and is reliable, the odds are good. If you want me to take a look at any specifc article before you invest time into translation, let me know. I don't see an AfD for Hu Tao, I looked at the article, it is somewhat borderline (Zhongli is much better). That said, being in the title heading of severa articles is a good sign, so I hope Hu Tao will survive. I checked GScholar and there are some mentions that may be reliable, although most seem to be from indonesian thesis (something I noticed before... something weird going out there...). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:27, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ps. One of the reasons I am mentioning all of this is b/c I assign students to translate content, these days some from zh to en, and I wonder if something here would be worth adding to my list. As I do not read Chinese I do not have many ideas for them (see User:Piotrus/Ideas_for_students#To_expand_on_English_Wikipedia). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:29, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: I mean I was primarily referring over my now deleted attempt at creating an article for Reimu Hakurei from Touhou regarding my prior experience with creating video game related articles. Getting back on topic though, as per the status of Hu Tao, while I could maybe see some minor expansion made for her as she's definitely far from being not notable, I think her status is fine enough to get around. I would be interested into looking into said scholarly sources. While I don't speak or read Chinese or Indonesian, I generally use translation tools to help with the past three years of my articles as the only other language I can genuinely speak is Spanish and so far, they've been extremely helpful in creating at least 618 articles from various different languages. Though I should probably finish up on my article on Ayaka as it's nearly complete with only a few references by SuperGrey1 to be added and I'll probably do so either tomorrow or this Saturday considering I have a lot more free time right now. I'll be sure to consult you about it before I decide to either move it to mainspace or submit the draft as I'm admittedly eager to work on my sandbox which is currently an in-progress article on Scaramouche. - I agree. These articles (Yun Jin, Wanderer, and Furina) have much greater potential to be notable, even winning a good article badge. Still, the Wanderer article still need some work on Chinese Wikipedia (I'm working on it), so I suggest Yun Jin and Furina to be considered translating first. Neuvillette article still misses in-depth character commentaries, and I doubt that TikTok meme could prove notability. Supergrey1 (talk) 03:15, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

In the linked article it clearly states that Producer of the game is Hugh Tsai. But the game article present here states otherwise while linking article with Hugh Tsai as the source. Consensus needed - should Genshin be described as a JRPG in the lede, or simply as an RPG?
I am opening this discussion before an edit war breaks out.
I do not think it needs to be described as a JRPG. Simply describing it as an RPG is more appropriate according to MOS:JARGON, and other well-known JRPG series like Hyperdimension Neptunia, Fire Emblem and even Pokémon are not directly classified as such in their respective articles; the first and the third are described as RPGs, while the second is described as a tactical RPG. KingErikII (Talk page) 00:35, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- Zero prose and sourcing right now that seem to call Genshin Impact a "JRPG". More importantly, kinda central to the definition... It's not a Japanese game. -- ferret (talk) 01:33, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- Indeed, which is another reason why I find it unnecessary and inappropriate to label Genshin a JRPG in the lede. --KingErikII (Talk page) 01:44, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- Right. Although we should acknowledge anime/manga aesthetic. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:29, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- JRPG does not mean the origin has to be Japanese.
- The defiunition on Wikitionary is "Initialism of Japanese role-playing game, a traditional genre of role-playing video game generally understood as involving a pre-determined story and player characters, a party of multiple controllable characters, and an emphasis on narrative and storytelling."
- I believe that Genshin fits the definition. GENeration.XVII (talk) 01:41, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Definition.* GENeration.XVII (talk) 01:46, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Going by that definition, this can also be applied to GTA 5. Is GTA 5 a JRPG? Clearly that entry in Wikitionary was trying to say it's for *Japanese* games with the above mentioned characteristics. Though, it should be edited to make the wording more clear. Obviously neither GTA 5 nor Genshin Impact are JRPGs. MuggyForecast (talk) 11:12, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Indeed, which is another reason why I find it unnecessary and inappropriate to label Genshin a JRPG in the lede. --KingErikII (Talk page) 01:44, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- Genshin Impact's distinct blend of visual style, thematic elements, and gameplay mechanics warrants its classification as a JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game). The game draws significant inspiration from Japanese anime and manga, both aesthetically and thematically, and features gameplay mechanics commonly associated with JRPGs, such as party-based combat and character progression. Despite being developed by a Chinese studio, miHoYo, Genshin Impact's design principles and narrative influences align closely with traditional JRPGs. I believe there is no harm in classifying Genshin Impact in that manner. GENeration.XVII (talk) 01:49, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Feel free to provide some reliable secondary sourcing that backs your claim. -- ferret (talk) 01:51, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Though, describing Houkai Star Rail as a JRPG might be more accurate than Genshin. GENeration.XVII (talk) 01:51, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter; you need to provide reliable sources that back up your claim. Otherwise, "JRPG" just violates WP:JARGON, even if technically correct. --KingErikII (Talk page) 02:02, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Addendum: On Wikipedia, games are described based on what reliable, secondary sources say about them; the "JRPG" label is simply too niche compared to the more commonly-understood "RPG". Furthermore, when writing articles on Wikipedia, it's a good idea to stick with layman's terms to increase readability. "JRPG" is too technical, and a reader may wonder why a Chinese creation is described as a "Japanese Role-Playing Game". KingErikII (Talk page) 02:21, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Update regarding the Representation and diversity concerns section
Following the release of the Natlan preview teaser and the Ignition teaser showcasing Natlan's cast of playable characters, there has been a surge in controversy regarding diversity and representation across social media, including some Voice Actors behind the Genshin cast calling out miHoYo/HoYoverse over the issue. If possible, it'd be best to include it into that section with the relevant sources, I have provided one below as well.
https://www.sportskeeda.com/esports/genshin-impact-gets-called-lack-cultural-appreciation-latest-natlan-teaser Lifetimelucid (talk) 15:33, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- What representation? Genshin doesn't represent anything because it's based on a fictional world. Naturally, they'll make that world appealing to their most profitable markets, China and Japan, not to SJWs in the West. The problem is people in the West trying to associate fictional regions and characters with what they want it to be in the real world as if it was soccer. First, people said Natlan is based on Africa, then it was America, now it's apparently Australia? Ignoring the fact that there are indeed "white people" in these regions, maybe the game of associating fictional places with the real world isn't a good idea if you can't even decide on the continent...
- Anyways, that "source" you linked, if you can get past all the ads and clutter (seriously, even with uBlock Origin, it's 90% clutter, 10% content), isn't even that strong. First, when you said "Voice Actors" it was actually a couple from the English cast, the lowest tier contracted cast of the game. They're expendable (happened before). Second, the actual claim is in the tweet. They claim that there is this god from Africa that this character is based on (citation needed), but it doesn't have enough perceived melatonin in genshin's "interpretation" so hoyo bad? That character doesn't even look anything like that thing. But of course, Westerners need to find any excuse for criticism because the game is Chinese (actual racism). What about the plethora of JRPGs out their with literally zero dark skinned characters. I don't see Nintendo having their own boycott campaign for it. But that's actually not too bad. If we can get those hypocrite Westerns out of the game, it will be a win-win for everyone. So please Western SJWs, boycott hoyoverse! MuggyForecast (talk) 17:34, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Also, I'd like to mention that something similar happened with the previous update, 3.0. Apparently, they still think Egyptians should be dark. That's something that the makers of Netflix's "Queen Cleopatra" should've taken a note of. Happened last update, happened again, and will keep happening. That's the hypocrite West for ya. Not worth mentioning it in this article, IMO. MuggyForecast (talk) 17:41, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- The fact of the matter is that the controversy is still relevant to that section in the article and therefore should be added when feasible, regardless of what you may think. Lifetimelucid (talk) 17:48, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, no. There are hundreds of these "controversies" on Genshin over the years as I mentioned in my second comment. I don't see them here. Just because this is another one about melatonin doesn't justify its own entry regardless of what you may think.
- Maybe we can modify the existing entry about the previous melatonin controversy boycott to "Due to the game's popularity with the West, every update the game receive virtue signaling from ignorant SJWs because Genshin Impact is often their first exposure to anime-style gacha games." I think that's a very Wikipedia-style writing if you ask me :) MuggyForecast (talk) 20:57, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- 1. I do not think that modification would fit into Wikipedia in any way because it seems biased, rather than from a neutral point of view.
- 2. I still think the controversy regarding Natlan is as notable as the one with Sumeru due to the size of the controversy itself. Lifetimelucid (talk) 11:37, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
