Merge Discussion

2021 discussion

[edit]

Support I would be tempted to merge boldly immediately, but I would want to check with current authors of the page beforehand, hence this discussion. I think that the draft article has significant amounts of information that would be useful to the article. Halfadaniel (talk) 17:51, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support He is not notable in his own right. Editrite! (talk) 02:04, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support to merge the draft into the main space. --NoonIcarus (talk) 15:49, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support merging content about the late Hienadz Shutau from the draft into 2020–2021 Belarusian protests#Deaths and leave a redirect here. --Jabbi (talk) 00:20, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support merging this article elsewhere, leaving this as a redirect. Not notable in his own right. Could be combined with whatever is in the draft during the merge. --IWI (talk) 00:53, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support a merge into 2020–2021 Belarusian protests#Deaths. Wakari07 (talk) 04:16, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support a merge, since that is what I !voted in the AfD. Nothing has changed so far as I can tell. Onel5969 TT me 05:06, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support merging it into 2020–2021 Belarusian protests#Deaths. Kolma8 (talk) 06:19, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support - as long as the information from this article is included in the other article. BabbaQ (talk) 11:08, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support per above. Wareon (talk) 07:10, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article Draft:Hienadz Shutau contains already too much relevant information which would get lost if the story about this man is going to be moved into the already pretty long "Deaths" section in the 2020–2021 Belarusian protests article. Therefore I am against merging.--KastusK (talk) 18:41, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative proposal

To not merge, given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 11:03, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative proposal: The article has now been expanded greatly since all the above comments, both with the merge from main-space and additional material. Nevertheless, a merge seems warranted because of WP:1E and that much of the material related the broader issues. The primary target of the initial proposal seems unpopular, and the the alternative target (2020–2021 Belarusian protests#Deaths) seems appropriate to me, except that that page is too long to warrant the addition of a long article. It therefore seems that the best solution would be to merge this to List of deaths related to the 2020 Belarusian protests, moving that page to Deaths related to the 2020 Belarusian protests (to reflect that content would no longer be a list). Oppose The victim himself might not be notable, but being the first to get shot makes the event notable. BP OMowe (talk) 22:42, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly speaking unrelated, but because of the Belarus connection, could I invite editors here to contribute to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alexander Zaytsev (businessman) -- Jabbi (talk) 13:22, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
