OS

[edit]

Article mentions you can install Linux, but not the stock OS, I assume Windows? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.173.93.186 (talk) 02:09, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Original research and this article

[edit]

I don't think some information I have included in this article counts as original research, even though the information was obtained from a lot of trial and error getting my Handbook to work with Linux. In particular, I point out the following:

  • Dillo runs on a Handbook 486 running Linux. How do I know this? Because Dillo runs on my Linux 486 SX/25 handbook (and, heck, you can see my picture of Dillo running on this handbook).
  • Memory should be tested with memtest before being installed with this unit. How do I know this? Because I had a bugger of a time getting non-defective memory to work in this unit.

In both cases, I don't think I'm crossing the original research line because my primary source isn't myself; the primary source is my Handbook, which can happily be used to browse the web with Dillo.

Additionally, I am not at all interpreting any of the data that I have obtained; the fact that Dillo runs on my Handbook is not one where my subjective impressions or inpterpretations change what content that would be in this encylopedia. Samboy 17:58, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
