Ambiguity
[edit]There's been issues with WP:COI users trying to make a distinction between Sea Group and Garena. However, I do think we need to make more of a distinction in some way, and make the difference and usage of the two terms more clear - the lack of one caused me confusion as a reader of the Wiki looking for information. However, as I'm not too familiar with companies' structure in general, I cannot provide much advice on how to go about it. Inkybinky3 (talk) 15:36, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Garena IS NOT Sea Group
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. A consensus could not be reached. |
Please take a moment to review my edit.
I am proposing a significant number of changes be made to the present Garena entry, most notably to clarify the question of whether Garena and Sea Group are the same entity. Tl;dr: they are not. I am also proposing the creation of a separate page for Sea Group to better distinguish between both entities.
As stated clearly in Sea's sec filing,[1], Garena is a business under Sea. Much of the confusion in this entry stems from Sea having been founded as Garena in 2009 and having changed its name to Sea in 2017.[2]
This has led to the current Garena page having erroneously combined elements from both entities e.g. financial information/trading information, logo, and inclusion of Forrest Li as Garena's CEO, just to list a few.
Additionally, my edit also corrects several factual errors or updates:
- Replacement of Forrest Li with Garena's President Terry Zhao
- Removal of employee figures (check the source: this figure refers to all of Sea and its subsidiaries)
- Update of disclosed metrics on Free Fire
- Update of Free Fire's name (vs Free Fire Battlegrounds)
- Removal of Omen's Studios as a developer of Free Fire
- Update on FIFA Online 3 (which has since been discontinued)
Removal of https://needforapk.com/garena-free-fire/==References== https://needforapk.com/garena-free-fire/
Would appreciate if an editor could kindly make the above changes. Thank you.

- Oppose content fork. The former name of Sea Limited is Garena . The major business of Sea Limited is Garena . There is lack of citation for WP:GNG and WP:NCORP for "Sea Limited". Seem Garena is the company major trade name (d/b/a), since a lot of citation that passing GNG and NCORP are under Garena instead. Matthew hk (talk) 14:15, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support to split articles; arguments are valid, very different concept Germartin1 (talk) 19:44, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Germartin1: Draft:Sea Group was declined by WP:AFC anyway. Also, WP:NOTAVOTE. Matthew hk (talk) 04:05, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Owner = 27% tencent?
[edit]27% owner is not tencent This is a wrong information.

- Note: the above COI editor was blocked from editing wikipedia. It is nothing wrong to list Sea Limited info in this article which currently use "Garena" as article title. Sea Limited and Garena are closely associated entity and news website once reported that Garena was rebranded as Sea. Matthew hk (talk) 11:19, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Please remove the unsourced information or restore the correct version of the page. It was probably updated by some Wikipedian who was lazy to change the reference (!!). Please, can someone confirm why this kind of thing happens here? I'd like to know. 83.23.193.121 (talk) 17:09, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Jsplabao (talk) 16:39, 8 August 2022 (UTC) Hi adjustments need to be made since heroes of newerth has been with Garena since 2007. I am a witness and I have invested time and money to the company so it needs to be corrected.
- We can't take your word for it, we need sources. Not done. PRAXIDICAE🌈 16:43, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- That's where I'm having difficulty with. If only I had proof that it wasn't launched in 2010. Anyways! I'll keep you posted. Jsplabao (talk) 21:42, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

- Can you try and inspect the elements, I just find this post making sense. It's just that the photo https://dpmlicious.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/GarenaHoNBanner1.jpg has been changed to 2010 and from 2007. Jsplabao (talk) 21:56, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- No. That's not how sourcing works. PRAXIDICAE🌈 22:07, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
