GEOINT data sources

[edit]

This statement, "comprising the exploitation and analysis of satellite information", does not make sense. How can you state GEOINT IS from satellite information and the next sentence say the source can be collected from aircraft or by other means? The word satellite should be removed as it directly contradicts the second sentence, nor does it reflect the vision of the founding father of GEOINT (LTG (ret.) James R. Clapper, who frequently preached that GEOINT is from any source (and he meant any source, whether a human, aircraft, or satellite collected it... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.100.33.3 (talkcontribs) 22:58, 1 November 2006

If you think it should read differently, then be bold and change it! Especially if you know something about the topic. LobStoR (talk) 02:28, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The second sentence in the definition of GEOINT reads, "GEOINT sources include imagery and mapping data, whether collected by commercial satellite, government satellite or by other means, such as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or reconissance aircraft." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.100.33.3 (talkcontribs) 22:58, 1 November 2006

I have the same response as above... be bold.  LobStoR (talk) 02:28, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

US Army definition

[edit]

US ARMY Defines GEOINT as: Intelligence derived from the exploitation, analysis, and fusion of imagery with geospatial information to describe, assess, and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities in the battlespace. GEOINT consists of imagery, imagery intelligence (IMINT) and geospatial information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.27.1.2 (talkcontribs) 12:51, 11 January 2007

Merge proposal

[edit]

Article seems too large and stands up on It's own to merge with GIS in geospatial intelligence article in my opinion, and I would suggest removing merger tag from up top, with a link being sufficient. --JLavigne508 (talk) 18:47, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
