Merge

[edit]

I think the keepie uppie and footbont color="Green">Philc]] T+C 11:08, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As the article stands now, it clearly seems to be the same thing... Maybe a proposed merge could improve the discussion... By the way, Sepak Takraw rules! 惑乱 分からん 23:45, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"keepie uppie" and freestyle are not the same thing. "keepie uppie" is just a simple practice drill. Freestyle is the football equivalent of breakdance - a performance for an audience. --59.100.51.216 (talk) 14:26, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

This article reads more like a magazine column.

"Just like everyone else, he was amazed and inspired by Maradona's juggling and wanted to develop his skills to be just like Maradona. Eventually, Mr. Woo gained immense popularity as a football entertainer and inspired another generation of freestylers such as Abbas Farid. Up until the early 21st century, most of these freestylers were Mr. Woo inspired"

I've highlighted some of the POV comments. Really the whole article needs redoing. I have no problem with this sort of article apart from it should be on someone's blog, journal or in a magazine. Let's keep wikipedia for encyclopedia entries. Mglovesfun 17:54, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Despair at this article

[edit]

This article seems to be full of unverified claims and original research, now I am not claiming to be an expert on freestyle football. But this article seems to have no notable references and dubious claims I feel this article needs a major clear up. Dwanyewest (talk) 21:26, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking for ball spinning (from both the Basket ball and also from the Juggle page) and couldn't find any reference - if you are planning on merging keepie uppie into freestyle football perhaps some mention and links to these could also be included in a fresh article - I'd suggest a new title "ball tricks" or something similar in which Keepie uppie and freestyle football could be major sections (this article could also have some ties to the contact juggling page) --EdwardLane (talk) 14:56, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If people who knew what they are talking about were allowed to make constructive edits, then the page might not have been in such a sorry state. A month ago I tried to add three new tricks to the list. Those were tricks that have been landed, the videos exist, the names are already established, i.e. my edits were entirely appropriate and would have helped the page. They were ruthlessly deleted, then my challenge of the deletion was not given any attention. Today I look at the page and notice that 2 new 4-rev tricks have been added: "new trick /Patw + HTW NT" and "dkatw / Japatw + HTW nt". If anyone lands the PATW-HTW NT trick, the internet would be immediately set alight with the news, but I have found no mention of such a thing happening recently. The "dkatw" thing is even worse -- JapATW HTW NT is almost certainly physically impossible. Then I notice that a previous version of the page included the following instead of these two so called new tricks: "new trick /patw + japatw NT". This is a 6-rev trick and can only be landed on the Moon or some other low-gravity environment. Clearly, this is an instance of vandalism, yet it currently stands. Meanwhile my reliable and knowledgeable edits get immediately deleted... --Gkmarinov (talk) 1 October 2016

"regionals", "nationals" and "World" level

[edit]

i think the list of "international and european...",all scrambled on same list, as is shown now, need to be separated, so "regionals" and "nationals" competitions does not get confused by world level competitions
