Spiral tribe werent exponents of this genre theyinvented it along with a couple of others such as mutoid waste company. I was there - I was ther ein prague in 1993 when spiral tribe played and all the czech punks started banging their heads to it - saw it grow and spread in Franc eand Eastern Europe , czech tek etc. Spiral tribe invented this - you hipsters have got your historical facts wrong as usual. Wikipedia is scary sometimes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.71.208.132 (talk) 09:09, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Was thinking this, actually embarrassing 78.148.14.190 (talk) 00:48, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i want to change this page so it is actually about the music genre called free tekno (i think ultimately i would rather have it linked to under tekno, then include free tekno in a list of asnother names which include spiral tekno, french hardcore etc). i will try to include info here on the freetekno and teknival pages where i hope it fits better. name change?

[edit]

Shouldn't the title be Free_Tekno_(genre) or Free_Tekno_(music) ? Bennyp 01:51, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KEEP THEM SEPERATED see my notes on the other article. They truly should be hotdog. This is about a sound, not a party. If anything, the other article should be condensed even more and merged into the bottom of this for extra reading, but this one is pure and really does a good job.

Free Tek in the East Anglia region

[edit]

No ones really talked about the huge influence Free Tekno had in the East Anglian region of the UK though?? Remember DJ Lippy and his 'Corkscrew'label? He had Bedfordshire in a frenzy back in 1998, rinsing those hardcore tracks at the warehouse clubs like 'Creamers' and 'Heroin Face'. Milton Keynes and Luton also run the road with these hard tunage. Does anyone out there maybe back me up on this, but I am sure there used to be a small club on the Roxton road in Luton that played Free Tekno nights every other Friday, it was DJ Willoughby and The Bloomsbury Boys hosting the night normally - ultra mong slapping in there till 5am. Nice work.Sloppyjoe78 (talk) 12:17, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Should tribe and free tekno be merged in wiki data?

[edit]

It feels like a big omission to miss the French article for Free tekno in the sidebar. As far as I know the French usually call all Spiral Tribe influenced music Tribe. See https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe_(musique) There isn't any other page on fr.wikipedia.org for freetekeno as far as I know of. So I'd like to add https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe_(musique) to the sidebar but I'm prevented because it is already part of https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3538739 I can't add it to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1524033 So the big question can free tekno and tribe be merged? Is there enough sameness between the two? RoyimDB (talk) 20:28, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tekk/Tekke

[edit]

Tekk/Tekke should be its own page and removed here. Afaik this scene is concentrated in Germany and doesn’t have many connections to the global tekno/freetekno/tribe scene. The music has a distinct aesthetic different from tekno. I don’t know crossover producers between tekke and tekno. To me tekke lives in its own world and the most striking similarity with tekno is only the name. RoyimDB (talk) 07:43, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
