First and Second Battles of El Teb → First and second battles of El Teb – One can claim "First Battle of Foo" and "Second Battle of Bar" are proper names, but it seems hard to claim that a description of multiple battles is a proper name. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:40, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support, but not exactly for the reason given. I think that if "First Battle of El Teb" and "Second Battle of El Teb" were proper names, I'd be OK with the present title, sort of like "Presidents Carter and Reagan". But sources are almost uniform in lowercasing both "first battle of El Teb" and "second battle of El Teb", so that argument doesn't matter one way or the other. - Support Firstly while a proper name is capitalised, it is not pluralised. Note that presidents in the example by DL is an honorific and the analogy is not applicable. Secondly, as DL observes, sources generally lowercase the individual battles (see google scholar here and here but it gives no results for the combined term per the article title). If there is no good reason to cap the individual battles (per WP:NCCAPS, MOS:CAPS and evidence of usage) there is certainly no good reason to cap the combined term.
