Standings table

[edit]

I changed the standings table, which was out of date. The Dutch playoff system has changed (it has been almost completely removed). Since I had difficulties editing the previous table, I copied the less complex table from the Dutch page, with an apart legend. I acknowledge the previous table was better, so I'd like to ask someone to remake it, but with the current, correct information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxb5 (talkcontribs) 21:00, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If I understand correctly, places 5 through 8 play-off for the 2nd round UEFA Cup spot? Original table will be back in place and edited within the next 15 mins... :-) Hockey-holic (talk) 21:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's correct, for the 2nd qualifying round of the UEFA Cup. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxb5 (talkcontribs) 21:10, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, done. Hockey-holic (talk) 21:25, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Twente v Sparta

[edit]

There has been some discussion in Dutch media over who scored the first goal in the December 6 match FC Twente v Sparta Rotterdam. Both Voetbal International and NOS have awarded the goal to Kenneth Perez, but several other media have indicated that it was an own goal by Donovan Slijngard (who also scored an own goal after 43 minutes). Based on VI and NOS, I've awarded the goal to Perez in the top scorer rankings. Aecis·(away) talk 08:41, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error

[edit]

There's an error somewhere in the table of goal scorers, but I can't figure out where it is. The table in Eredivisie 2008-09#Top goalscorers shows a total of 512 goals, but when I add up all the individual goals, I only get 511. And when I add up the goals in the league standings, I get 510 goals, both in the GF and in the GA columns. Something doesn't add up. Aecis·(away) talk 23:06, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the record: the error has been fixed. Aecis·(away) talk 00:33, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Darío Cvitanich

[edit]

Darío Cvitanich is listed as a Croatian footballer in this article. I have proposed changing his listing to Argentina at Talk:AFC Ajax#Darío Cvitanich: Croatia or Argentina?. Aecis·(away) talk 20:24, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tied with a game in hand

[edit]

The league table at the official Eredivisie website shows PSV in 4th place with 42 points, and Ajax in 3rd place with an equal amount of points and a game in hand. The same goes for Vitesse (10th) and Willem II (11th). Yes, it's true that the goal difference is the first tie breaker. But only in the final league table, not during the season. During the season, the amount of games needed to reach a certain number of points is the first tie breaker. When two teams are tied on say 42 points, the team that needed the least matches to reach those 42 points leads. Aecis·(away) talk 00:40, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SC Heerenveen qualified for Europe

[edit]

SC Heerenveen drew 1-1 against FC Twente and as a result, qualified for the Europa League. They can't finish 2nd anymore (2nd place gives the right to compete in the Champions League third round for non-champions), but they can't finish 6th too. The cup final is between FC Twente and Heerenveen. If Heerenveen wins, they'll go to the 4th qualifiying round of the Europa League. If Twente wins and finish 2nd, Heerenveen will also go to the 4th round of the Europa League. If Twente wins and finish 3rd or 4th (they can't finish lower), Twente will go to the 4th round of the Europa League and Heerenveen will go to the 3rd qualifiying round. My point is, the situation is complex, and the way how it's entered in the table standings in the article, is too complex for me. So can someone edit it, since Heerenveen won't be in the Eredivisie play-offs for a spot in the Europa League anymore. 80.56.240.214 (talk) 19:29, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is a similar situation in Greece at the moment, where AEK Athens have qualified for Europe for being in the domestic cup final against champions Olympiacos, but their round is not known yet. At the current state, the positions there will be allotted after the end of the playoff round. Given the fact that Heerenveen still can qualify for a "regular" UEL spot, I suggest to wait until after the conclusion of the season and then edit the European spots accordingly (At least this it's how it will be done for Greece as it seems). --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 19:40, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Qualification to Europa League

[edit]

Recently, SonjiCeli reverted my edit for the qualification line to Europa League. Before talking in general, let me introduce the situation first.

AZ - Champions - Qualification to Champions League group stage
Twente - Runners-up - Qualification to Champions League third qualifying round
Ajax and PSV - 3rd or 4th placed team - Qualification to Europa League
Heerenveen - KNVB Cup finalist - Qualification to Europa League as Twente qualified for CL

Those team are ensured in the qualification. However, SonjiCeli cited a source for explaining his revert, but the source opposites to the UEFA's regulation.
If Heerenveen, the only finalists not qualified for CL, do not win KNVB Cup, then their starting round would be determined, according to UEFA, by their league position. As Heerenveen would not finish lower than fifth, so their qualification will be counted into league. That mean all four spots will be determine by league position - one by play-off.
