Fair use rationale for Image:Helenamambo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Helenamambo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. My Number One = Compilation?

[edit]

I get what you are saying GRstar, but My Number One is considered her debut international album. You could consider it as a re-release Protereotita with a diff track listing and name I guess, but that doesn't make it a compilation album. For it to be a compilation album, it would have to be released in Greece as a best-of or greatest hits album, but it wasn't even released in Greece. It was promoted as her first international album. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:25, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was actually going to start a subject on this today. It is not really considered her debut album. (The game of love is). And It is not a compilation. It is more of "Protereotita: Euro Edition" international version, with a new name for international. Maybe it should be merged? Greekboy (talk) 17:56, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK we've merged the two and it looks good. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 03:53, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've got your information wrong there Grk1011. My Number One was released in Greece, before it was even released in Sweden. It is a compilation, with the ironic name depicting her best songs from her debut album. Just because it is not a studio album does not mean it cannot be her first European album (however, int'l might be an exaggeration as it was only released in a few countries. If you go to a site like Musical.gr or Greekcity, that sell albums directly from Greece, the album will be listed there stating its release from BMG Greece. I don't think it should be merged at all. My Number One is pretty much Paparizou's solo version of the same thing that Antique did with the album Blue Love (compil.) which featured past Greek songs esp. for Sweden and was released in Sweden. THE ALBUM IS A COMPILATION!!! And in her discograhy page it should be featured as one of her Greek albums. It was released in Greece! GRstar2008 talk) 00:19, 29 October 2008 (UTC)) 8:18 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I realized that it was essentially the international version of Protereotita: Euro Edition, which is why I supported the merge. And My Number One (album) was not released in Greece, you are referring to the CD single My Number One, which in fact is on musical.gr and greekcity because that was released in Greece. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 00:22, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
GRStar2008, you are wrong here. First of all, Musical.gr only has the My Number One single. Second, Greek City has My Number One, with the label "Sony BMG - Canada". This album was not, and has not been released in Greece. It was only the international version of Protereotita Euro-edition, renamed for that market to capitalize on her Eurovision image. Sales and chart confirmation, diff btwn "certified" and "sold"

[edit]

In response to the anonymous user above, Iparhi Logos was not 2P. When the certification news at Iera Odos broke out, the story in Greek said 'Double Platinum hit for Paparizou' which was mistaken here to mean that her album acheived 2P, when really she was just getting 2 certifications for 2 albums. I think as far as I remember The Game of Love reached only #2 in Cyprus, so could we please confirm that it was number one. TGOL earned the quickest certification of Paparizou's career due to the constant pushing back of dates (it went gold in 1 or 2 weeks I believe and platinum within a month). The certification party was in the beginning of December which means that TGOL had gone platinum in max. 5 weeks while Iparhi Logos after 7 months. Can somebody also confirm that "My Number One" went platinum instead of gold. You hear platinum a lot around the ESC sites and I used to think so too, but on many Greek sites it says gold, including the El Wiki.

Also, Protereotita was certified in 2006 I believe as being 2P. If Euro Edition was her first platinum certified album and was certified in the summer (meaning 40,000 including the original from 04) it doesn't make much sense that it would randomly double by November. The reference given for the sales says that it is both 80,000 and 87,000, making it unreliable, so we can't use it and have to assume the 60,000 sales. I'll give the site the benefit of a doubt and let it be used for the other ones as a bracketed sale. Anyway, since there is no official sales # for her, then we can't just randomly add up sales, even if there is a ref for them. What "certified" means (for the lead) is that the standard amount of sales pertaining to the certifications given to her add up to this. It is the only way to do it without conflict and without another source. Thus, 60K+30K+30K+30K = 150K. and 60k for her singles. It doesn't matter if the source says 40,000. Just think about the way it is done in RIAA. One of Springsteen's albums is certified 13x Plat! (since it was 4 disc) and is considered to be one or two of the best-selling live albums ever in the US because they base their system on certifications (since RIAA defines double disc albums exceeding 100 as deserving double the cert.) In actuality the album only sould about 4M, i believe, and is surpassed in sales by many other albums. So, that is the difference between being "certified" and having actually "sold". Certs and DVD

[edit]

Well on chart show they said Paparizou had 7 platinum and 4 gold albums. With 2p+p+p+p for her first four albums and two plats for mambo! and my number one it adds up. Also, anapandites kliseis, fos, and the digital single to fili tis zois were also certified gold, so there is only one missing. I am not sure but i think the number one dvd was also gold. Can somebody confirm that it is that record in this video [1] ? They say something about Evangelinos not being there to get the award, which doesn't make sense for the single. Also, apparently the single was certified in 2006 at the same time as Iparhi Logos gold and Mambo! plat. [2]

Singles

[edit]

I think maybe we should think about merging the singles overall, regardless of where they are released and if they are physical or not, as we have already confirmed release format does not mean a lot. All these extra facts i think can be added in with footnotes like we see on international discographies. Also we should probably think of splitting the videography eventually it's getting to that length. GreekStar12 (talk) 14:13, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Originally they were kept separate because I felt that that physical releases were the only ones we would be able to find information about (so for the sake of the infobox chrono, etc), but over the years it seems that is not the case. A single is a single whether it is releases physically, digitally, or radio only. The market has changed in terms of how singles are released and we should adjust our approach accordingly. Also, sure for the videography. Grk1011 (talk) 14:38, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
