Photo Edit to DC-3 Article Recently Done - Discussion at The Teahouse; Can We have More Opinions, Please?

[edit]

Hi People: Interested parties are directed to: "Diverse Photos Added to DC-3 Article on 17 May Deleted This AM; Other Opinions, Please?" near the top of the Teahouse. I'd be most interested on how my photo changes are viewed from this group. Based on comments mainly from Fabrickator, my photos are down from 7 additional ones, mainly in Whitespace, to 4. All comments welcome and have a look at the updated article, please. BrettA343 (talk) 20:47, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

suggestion to revert to older text (completed)

[edit]

Cuurent text states:

Before the war, it advanced air travel as it could more readily cross the [[continental US]], made international flights economically feasible, carried passengers in greater comfort, and was reliable and easy to maintain

I think we should consider reverting all the way back to the text from this edit]:

It was fast, had a good range, was more reliable and carried passengers in greater comfort. Before the war it pioneered many air travel routes. It was able to cross the continental US from New York to Los Angeles in 18 hours and with only 3 stops.

Total production numbers

[edit]

I understand that we don't want to lump them all together, but to many people, "DC-3" implies the DC-3, C-47/53, Li-2, etc, not just the civilian DC-3. Perhaps we could list the production numbers of each variant separately, but all on the "DC-3" page. Pabst blue ribbon led zeppelin (talk) 00:11, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese copies

[edit]

In the paragraph starting "During World War II ..." we learn that "Licensed copies of the DC-3 were built in Japan as the Showa L2D (487 aircraft)". Seems a tad unlikely that the Japanese would have gone through the courtesies of obtaining a license from a country they were at war with. I suspect that somewhere we've switched to talking about the post-war period, but it's not very clear where. Somebody fix, please. GrindtXX (talk) 20:18, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's nothing to "fix", as the license was obtained in 1938, prior to WWII. The details are given in the Showa/Nakajima L2D article, where they should be covered. BilCat (talk) 22:28, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Primary users of the DC-3

[edit]

I thin the primary users of the dc 3 should be added below its status, Can anyone help me with that? Ca we agree on that?

Difficult, with many thousands of operators it would not make sense. MilborneOne (talk) 08:38, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
