This page was placed on Votes for Deletion in June 2004; consensus was to keep. To view the debate, see /Delete.

There was information on the Norm Macdonald page which did not agree with this article, and some is still confusing. I attempted to make the information agree. Also I have to question the importance of the "Making Waves" notice on the page.

Edits

[edit]

I have added some information, cleaned up the Norm MacDonald section, and provided a number of references for previously unattributed assertions. There is one statement I have been unable to verify. If no-one else has a source, I recommend deleting the sentence. --Vbd 09:56, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please include that Don Ohlmeyer is a douchebag for booting Norm MacDonald as this is very pertinent information to his page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.254.66.133 (talk) 15:44, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norm

[edit]

Because the Norm controversy happened during Ohlmeyer's second turn at NBC, it's not mentioned in the lead. --Lexein (talk) 03:43, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Norm, Again

[edit]

After recent edits, the article again indicates in its lead paragraph that Ohlmeyer is "best known" for "firing" Norm Macdonald. The article, which adequately covers the controversy, supports neither the contention that what happened should be described as a "firing" (removing Macdonald from one role on the show wasn't a termination of employment) nor that Ohlmeyer is "best known" for that (has there been some poll verifying that?). As to the latter, the referenced sources suggest that Ohlmeyer is "best known" for his role in sports broadcasting, particularly Monday Night Football. GreenGourd (talk) 02:38, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The coverage of Ohlmeyer in RS consistently describes the termination of Macdonald as a firing, and it is the single incident for which he is renowned, mentioned, as it is, in nearly every article mentioning him since the firing. It is the touchstone, the "you remember Ohlmeyer, he fired Norm" used to remind people who he is. I wouldn't be opposed to slight rephrasing, but plain English common sense certainly gives some latitude here. Omitting the Macdonald event from the lead para is not on, per WP:LEAD. If omitting the single word "best" satisfies you, go for it. --Lexein (talk) 07:01, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lacks details regarding subject's personal life, preventing it from being a B-class. The existing content, however, is fine. Badbilltucker 14:50, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
