This page should most definitely be merged with Comparison of video codecs. There is absolutely no reason to keep this page as a loner. --Ean5533 ( View! / Talk!) 04:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That wouldn't make any sense at all, for two reasons:
  1. This page compares container formats, which is something completely different from video (bitstream) formats.
  2. This page compares formats, while the Comparison of video codecs compares software products, implementations. That is, the other article discusses completely different aspects that do not apply here (price, quality etc.)
So you can perhaps merge this article with some other article, but definitely not with the one you're suggesting, that would be total nonsense.—J. M. (talk) 02:11, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Any objections to removing the merge template, for the reasons listed above?—J. M. (talk) 00:03, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with removing the merge template (merging into video codecs). I think that this article should be expanded to comparison of file formats based on the ISO base media file format - e.g. 3GP, MP4, DVB, F4V ... etc. --89.173.68.106 (talk) 05:22, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, removed.—J. M. (talk) 04:56, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
