Orphaned references in Political cleansing of population

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Political cleansing of population's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ReferenceC":

  • From Srebrenica massacre: "ICTY – Kordic and Cerkez Judgement – 3. After the Conflict" (PDF). Retrieved 11 July 2012.

  • From White Terror (Russia): Litvin, p. 176
  • From List of wars and anthropogenic disasters by death toll: White, Matthew. "20th Century death tolls larger than one million but fewer than 5 million people-Cambodia". necrometrics.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 13:50, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

It seems reasonable to merge Politicide to here, on the grounds that it is a subset of Political cleansing of population. Both articles are stubs and best discussed in one place. Klbrain (talk) 08:13, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Klbrain: I'm still not sure if it is a subset: I can't find any sources (other than Wikipedia) that use the term political cleansing of population. Jarble (talk) 14:50, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lemkin quote

[edit]

Raphael Lemkin did not say “We in Latin America make revolutions from time to time, which involves the destruction of political opponents. Then we reconcile and live in peace. Later the group in power is thrown out in another revolution. Why should this be classified as the crime of Genocide?” (Frieze, 2013:161).

It is in his autobiography, but the quote is actually from Ambassador Gilberto Amado of Brazil in the context of the committee opposing the addition of political groups in the definition of genocide.

I am not a Wikipedia editor, nor do I know how to correctly edit or add information so I would appreciate if anybody is able to assist.

The autobiography reference is: Frieze, D. (2013). Totally Unofficial: The Autobiography of Raphael Lemkin. United States: Yale University Press. A copy can be found free online here. Wilkinson21 (talk) 14:24, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
