Erik Grill used in his book official Swedish archive sources compiled from many archives from Sweden. but also from Finland, Poland and Germany. Too many to be listed here, but all are mentioned in his book. The primary source is Jacob De la Gardie`s correspondence with Axel Oxenstierna.)

Jacob De la Gardie appears also in Russian form Jakov Pontushov (Jakof Pontushoff) in Russian documents and old literature.

Jacob De la Gardie started his march toward Moscow from Novgorod which his troops had occupied.

Jacob De la Gardie arrived in Moscow in early March 1610.

The battle of Klusjino is mentioned only as "setback" not a battle.

Jacob De la Gardie´s army marched after a "setback" of Klusjino back to Novgorod.

Jacob De la Gardie and Evert Horn were accused from their powerful rivals in Stockholm of using his army´s salary money to his personal trade expensies with Russian (Muscovite) dealer Mensik Boranov who represented powerful Moscow tradehouses including The House of Stroganoff´s.

The salary money was 13.500 roubles equal for 40.500 riksdaler of which 3.000 roubles was paid in sable skins with value of 9.000 riksdaler bought from Muscovite traders at Viipuri (Viborg) in Finland and Reval (Tallinn) in Estonia.

Later Jacob De la Gardie and Evert Horn were freed from all charges represented against them.

Jacob De la Gardie spoke also Finnish, thanks to his years in his grandmother´s Karin Hansdotter (mistress of King Johann /Juhana III, but married with Lars Henriksson Hoordel, the master of Åbo / Turku Castle) estate in Finland 1585 - 1591.

Spent years from 1591 to 1600 in Stockholm in Kings Court but visiting often in Finland.

After the death of Johann III in 1592, ca.1600 arrived to Reval weapon arsenal.

Was appointed in 1601 at the age of 18 with rank of Colonel to Commanding Officer of Norrland Regiment (of which most of the soldiers had their mother tongue Finnish).

Took part of Carolus / Kaarle IX war trek against Riga in battles of Wolmar and Cesis.

Was surrendered at Wolmar for the Poles in 1601 and spent years to 1606 in Polish captivity.

His captivity costed to Swedish War Account a total of 3.000 Polish gullen which equal 2.917 Swedish riksdaler.

When released from captivity in 1606 went to Netherlands to serve under Wilhelm (Willem / William) The Oranian. Returned from Netherlands to Sweden in 1608 at the age of 25.

Spent years 1608 - 1628 in Estland and Livonia.

The Commander in Chief of Swedish troops in so called "Sable War" in 1611 - 1617.

Developed so called "Army in Being" method by keeping Novgorod area (and even occasionaly small part of Smolensk area) occupied, thus forming a continuous threat against Moscow.

Released with his troops 30 Polish nobelity members, among them Field Marshall Stanislaw Koniecpolski, from Russian captivity just before their planned execution ordered for next night by the Russian Commander.

Developed after 1618 new town Nyen on the mouth of River Neva in Ingermanland to important trading town which handled more trade from / to Russia than Viipuri (Viborg), Reval (Tallinn) and Riga.

Made an alliance with protestant Lithuanian Grand Duke Cristoffer Radzivil in 1625 to stop the Swedish - Polish War in Livonia and Lithuania by blockade of Polish trade through Ventspils (Windau), Liepaja (Libau) and Klaipeda (Memel) harbours.

Advised King of Sweden to destroy Polish garrison Königsberg (Krolewiec) and destroy Pillau harbour to strenghten the position of Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg.

Resigned from his post in 1628 with lot of dissmiss of King Gustav (Kustaa) Adolf II at the age of 45.

Returned to Sweden in late 1628.

The idea of "New created enlarged Preussen (Prussia)" was the original idea of Jacob De la Gardie in 1634. His idea was warmely supported by Cardinal Richelieu´s special envoy in Sweden, Count d´Avaux, Claude de Mesmes and approved also by Cardinal Richelieu. The idea was to "restiuera to Duke of Brandenburg, Friedrich Wilhelm, Elbing, Marienburg, Sthum, Braunsberg and Tolkekim cum territoriis" for 25, 30, or 50 years against for payment of "50 million gold" to Swedish Crown.

His grave is also in Reval (Tallinn) Dome Church where his heart or rest of the body is buried.
