Continued offensive

[edit]

The rebels have moved into central Daraa, and captured various towns such as Karak, Herak, Inkhil, Jassim, Bosra al Sham, and are applying pressure to others such as Kafr Shams, Sanamein, and other areas such as Brigade 52 and Daraa's border crossing with Jordan. Should we create a new article, or should we treat this as part of the same offensive? NightShadeAEB (talk) 18:49, 15 June 2013 (UTC) My opinion is creating a new article, but discuss this with other editors Alhanuty (talk) 03:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am not for reopening this article because its specifically about the rebel offensive from March to April which had a stated aim of capturing the border area. What is happening now has not been described as an organised and planned offensive by the rebels. Actually, what the Army has been doing since early May, capturing Khirbet Ghazaleh, Itlaa and Basr As Sham, being on the verge of capturing al-Sheikh Maskin, securing the highway and applying pressure on the rebels in the south which has been documented in the aftermath section HAS been called an organised offensive on the part of the government forces. The only tangible gains the rebels made during that time was the capture of the Army checkpoint a few days ago in Daraa, and that happened only after a 2-week siege. However, at least for now, I am also not even for creating a new article, be it a rebel or government offensive. EkoGraf (talk) 13:51, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
