I've removed the following notes from the article pending addition of references and rewording. Vsmith (talk) 01:57, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note that historical and genealogical data after the destruction of the town continued to refer to the much larger Cote Sans Dessein Township, which continues to exist, and includes the small Missouri river town of Tebbetts and areas to the north and west. The Township's eastern border is defined by the Missouri River tributary Middle River, and it lies east of Summit (Holts Summit) Township, south of Caldwell (Dixie) Township, southwest of Cedar (New Bloomfield) Township, and west of Saint Aubert (Mokane) Township.
  • Note that 'Cote Sans Dessein' can also be interpreted as 'shoreline without intention', which may have referred to a noted lack of fixity of the shoreline and river current that contributed to the flooding and destruction of the main part of the original settlement for which the larger and still-extant Township was named.
