"Copper is an essential trace element that is vital to the health of all living things (humans, plants, animals, and microorganisms). In humans, copper is essential to the proper functioning of organs and metabolic processes. "

Why do I feel this sort of extraordinary sounding claim needs extraordinary evidence? Link to multi-generational study of animals fed diet totally free of any metals and what were the results? (the diet should be high quality, just with the trace metals absent. Some artificial lab study feeding overtly simplified diet won't qualify to answer this properly)

Why "Copper in Health?"

[edit]

For other minerals that are also essential nutrients, most have separate articles for the mineral and the mineral in biology (Example: Selenium and Selenium in Biology). Some incorporate all of the biology/health information into the main article. "Copper" and "Copper in Health" have overlapping content, and might benefit from a reorganization along the lines of other minerals. David notMD (talk) 11:56, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@David notMD good point, I'm gonna move it to that page Immanuelle 💗 (please tag me) 00:16, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ancient use of copper for medical reasons

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/copper-virus-kill-180974655/ This shows how much the article could be expanded with that information. Dream Focus 17:08, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Human breast milk is low in copper relative to what?

[edit]

Human milk is high in Cu (twice that of horse milk and 6 times that of cow’s). https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/equine-milk 2A02:1812:1126:5D00:2DD8:6EEF:A004:8A7E (talk) 09:42, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
