'continue to live in their own homes'
[edit]It should be noted that in some cases 'own home' could mean sleeping rough. For others it could mean living in a dysfunctional family situation. Or for some slightly luckier patients, they could be given a new home from a social housing institution on discharge from a psychiatric hospital, in which case the verb 'continuing' is misleading.--Publunch (talk) 19:29, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Merge suggestion
[edit]The pages Community mental health service and Care in the Community speak basically about one and the same subject, with the latter page being more British-centric. Therefore I suggest the following restructuring:
- Merge the general-purpose text into "Community mental health service"
- Leave the details directly related to British implementation in "Care in the Community".
- I would also suggest whether it makes sense to start the article "community psychiatry", which I've just created as a redirect
- Also, it makes sense to consider/remove possible overlaps with "deinstitutionalization" page.

- Merge I agree with points 1 and 2 above (no view on 3 and 4). I think that 'Care in the community" should be about the specific policy of that name, introduced to the UK by Thatcher. I feel that that warrants an article of its own. The more generic information in that article currently, about community care as a generic method, should be merged into here. -- Chzz ► 01:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I would like to implement a content section focusing on the US mental health services, honing in the greater San Diego county. Specifically, what makes San Diego unique.
