Africanus?
[edit]What, I wonder, is the basis for the speculation that Commodianus may have been an African?
He is Gazaeus in Migne, and he was long thought to be from Gaza in Palestine. The textual evidence for this is weak (to say the least). But is there any evidence at all for an African origin?

- His theological similarity to Cyprian. To put it more broadly, if he is indeed Cyprian's contemporary, what other school of Christian literature in Latin was there? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 15:57, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Commodianus → Commodian —
As with Cyprian and Claudian, the -us is unnecessary and unnatural in English; compare the Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 16:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
