Angel,

This is a very comprehensive outline. I know you have done a lot of research on this topic, reaching out to professionals on the different listserves. You are a pro at writing wiki's, so understandably you are following all of the appropriate guidelines. One resource I might suggest for your 'Further reading' section is the NPS Conserv o Grams: http://www.nps.gov/museum/publications/conserveogram/cons_toc.html The images you chose are great and help to highlight some of the more important aspects of collections management. I look forward to reading your finished article.

Great Start!

Hi Angel,

I love that you are doing a page on collection management, as opposed to collection manager. This covers the whole collection team! I would suggest adding Archivist to the list of people involved in collection management. As far as content, it looks like a great start. I think you may want to add Collection Information Management under the records category (or you could even re-title that sections as that) because collection management systems are a big part of collection management. Also, and this is just a format thing, you have Acquisitions as a header with deaccessions and budget as content, and I think those should be separate topics. Or perhaps you could have a section on scope and museum mission and fit deaccession under that? The flow there just seems a little off. These are all just minor things, it looks great overall and I look forward to reading the final product! AllisonMaryMartin (talk) 13:49, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Angel,

Your outline looks great, it is very detailed to the different elements of collection management. I will be interesting in reading your article when it is submitted and to see how detailed the different sections will be. I have been researching and writing about Integrated pest management for my article and I can imagine how in-depth your article could be.

Angel, I love the structure of your article. The pictures are great too! Under 'records management', are you going to mention collections policies and planning? You mention digital curation, is that going to include Collections management systems, digital asset management, and website maintenance (i.e. online exhibits)? I think that mentioning the other individuals/departments that collections management interacts with during integrated pest management and emergency planning (administration, design, etc.) This is going to be a wonderful, inclusive article about everything collections management!
