Stuhmsdorf or Stumska Wieś?

[edit]

The present article includes a section about the voyage of Claude de Mesmes to northern Poland in 1635 where he participated in negotiations between Poland and Sweden. The sources I have read generally use historical German place names.

The Manual of Style (Manual of Style/Polish-related article - Places) instructs us as follows "When a city or other place is mentioned in a historical context, if there is no common English name for it in that historical period and context, use the appropriate historical name with the current Polish name in parentheses (if it is not the same word) the first time the place is mentioned."

I therefore used the historical name "Stuhmsdorf" rather than the current Polish name Sztumska Wieś, to refer to the village where the negotiations took place and added at the first mention a parenthesis reading "(now Sztumska Wieś"). I also linked that mention Sztumska Wieś to the English-language article called "Sztumska Wieś" as such an article happens to exist.

Furthermore, the present article, as it had been extended by Adam Sk at his edit of the 16 June 2008 at 22:35 just after its creation, mentioned the "Treaty of Sztumska Wieś" and linked to the article "Treaty of Stuhmsdorf" through a redirect page. I changed this to "Treaty of Stuhmsdorf", linking directly to the article and applying the cited rule about historical placenames in the Manual of Style. I am a newby at Wikipedia. Please correct me if I am wrong. I hope I am not creating a problem for any eminent Wikipedian by this edit. Johannes Schade (talk) 08:32, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

References to Anuschka Tischer

[edit]

The user 142.68.215.223 on 26 June 2011 added the first two references to the article, which both cite an author called Anuschka Tischer. Both sources are difficult to access. ^The one is a recent book in German, the other a publication in a journal. I propose to remove both of these if I can find equivalent easy-to-access English-language sources. Please anyone do not hesitate to object. Johannes Schade (talk) 21:10, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have now removed the Tischer-references.Johannes Schade (talk) 16:20, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
