Question
[edit]If there is wildlife to be protected then why is there oil spilling into the river bed? Why is there huge oil spills on the boulders? Construction? Or is the government trying to dig for oil here on American soil? What is really going on behind this National Park closure???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.233.71.86 (talk) 23:30, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Lede
[edit]The lede of Yosemite National Park (a featured article) is thus:
Yosemite National Park (/joʊˈsɛmɨtiː/ yoh-sem-it-ee) is a United States National Park spanning eastern portions of Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in the central eastern portion of the U.S. state of California. The park, which is managed by the National Park Service...
I don't see any reason why LPNF should not follow a similar guideline. Wikipedia cannot assume that its readers know what a national forest is in the United States, or who manages them. Both of those things are key to what a national forest is as opposed to just some random forest that's not a designated unit of land managed by a federal land management agency. We can't wiki-link "National Forest" in the title words because that's against style guidelines. So, it may be somewhat awkward to write it the way it's written, but I don't know of a better way. Changing importance to high
[edit]Updating importance of article from "low" to "high" (as per Wikipedia:WikiProject_California/Assessment#Importance_scale - "Subject is extremely notable, but has not achieved international notability, or is only notable within a particular continent." National forests have by definition achieved national recognition/notability and meet the High criteria. -- Charlesreid1 (talk) 15:07, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
