Uses

[edit]

I intend to create a section, entitled "Uses" in which I will expand upon some of the various different uses and purposes that the chelae serve in different species. Some of the uses I plan to cover are: digging/burrowing, predation, specialization, climbing, and courtship/mating. I am adding this to provide further information for the reader and to highlight some of the distinct uses that the chelae perform. Hopefully these additions will provide clarity for future readers as to what chelae are. PermitCrab (talk) 02:39, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pincers

[edit]

Pincer (biology) (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pincer (biology))) now redirects here. A hatnote noting that ant mandibles could have been intended by a search for pincers could theoretically be necessary, but I'm not sure. Merriam webster, for example, just defines a pincer as "a claw (as of a lobster) resembling a pair of pincers : chela", seeming to mostly talk about this article. Also relevant may be Chelicerae and Pedipalp. Mrfoogles (talk) 07:13, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
