Middle name - Breton or Brenton?

[edit]

A Google search gets 11,300 hits for "Charles Brenton Huggins" and only 75 for "Charles Breton Huggins". Unless anyone can verify the "Breton" spelling, this needs to be corrected. The redirects are at Charles Brenton Huggins; Huggins, Charles Brenton; Charles Huggins; and Charles B. Huggins. I think the correct location for the article is Charles Brenton Huggins.

Looking at the page history, the move happened with this edit on 18 July 2006.

I've put in a request for the page to be moved (it needs an admin to move to where a redirect is located). I'll add a link in a minute. Carcharoth 15:58, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The editor who moved the page has confirmed that this was a typo. Please see User_talk:Carcharoth#Ooops! for details. Carcharoth 16:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move done. Joelito (talk) 17:31, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, wait a minute!

[edit]

I didn't misspell the name when I made the move to his fullname. The name was changed after I moved the page!

I apologise. You did not make a typo. You copied the spelling in the article, which is the right thing to do. However, the spelling in the article (at the time you did the move) was wrong. The spelling was not corrected until I spotted the mistake. I, for one, will be checking things a lot more closely on Wikipedia, and not assuming that article names have the right spelling. Checking spelling of names with an external source is always a good idea. Carcharoth 22:46, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Breton or Brenton - again

[edit]

I've just removed a line saying that "Breton" is an alternative spelling. I can find no reputable source (other than Wikipedia mirrors) that give the "Breton" spelling. Please find a source before adding this back to the article. Thanks. Carcharoth 22:52, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
