Inaccurate Description

[edit]

This article is incorrect when it describes the replacement of the Brigade Major. The British Army does not use the term G3 to describe a Chief of Staff, it uses the term G3 to describe a staff area, for example Staff Officer Grade 3 (SO3) G3 would be the Operations Captain. A Chief of Staff is not considered to sit within the G3 function, or any other staff function as they oversee all staff areas. They are just referred to as the 'Chief of Staff' or COS for short. They oversee all staff areas (G1-9) for their commander with their Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) generally focusing on G1 and G4 (Personnel and Logistics). But each staff area would also have its own staff lead who would routinely report to the COS and DCOS who in turn would prioritise their work. These individuals would be referred to by their grade (SO3 - Capt, SO2 - Maj and SO1 - Lt Col) and staff area; G1 - G9. If no one objects i'll update the main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.13.50.180 (talk) 10:59, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
