Shouldn't his claim on Navasse Island be recorded here?

That's William A. Warren, not William B. Warren. —Tamfang (talk) 19:18, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me source the many assertions here with proper in-line cites & add to the Professional Details

[edit]

I am pleased to know Bill Warren well, and most of what has been asserted in the article here is true, even if not supported by a reliable citation as of yet.

When it comes to the larger facts of Mr. Warren's life, they ARE indeed rather amazing and astounding! He has known or been friends with so many movers and shakers within both Science Fiction Publishing and Filmmaking that it can easily sound grandiose to those unaware of the actual facts. Very nearly everything asserted here is TRUE but is sadly lacking the Reliable Sources required to back up such factual claims in keeping with Wikipedia's growing standards and prominence as a source of proven factual data. It's fine to state such generalizations or even specifics without proper attribution for a fanzine tribute or Convention pamphlet but NOT here in an Encyclopedia. Wikipedia will likely delete most of these if we cannot get the article in line with proper Encyclopedic standards and that would be a darn shame.

I ask my fellow editors to please kindly help me get the inline citations necessary to give Bill the credit he deserves as one of the most valuable documentarians of Science Fiction Films. Also, I am NOT very good at inserting photos into articles but I have some nice photos of Bill that I would be happy to upload, give proper free copyright license use for, here on this page if some other editor would be so kind as to insert them into an infobox, using the Writer Template since Bill has written for Starlog, Fangoria, a few dozen newspapers and of course, his own published books. In fact, I'd like to see not only a photo of Bill Himself as well as the Evil Dead Companion but also one of his recently revised edition of Keep Watching The Skies from McFarland. That was an immense effort and will be his lasting legacy to the genre. Lastly, the overlong personal quote about Sam Raimi needs to be trimmed down some since it does not add to his Biographical data and might be misunderstood by some unkind and deletionist editors as an example of "coat-tailing", which I assure you it is not. It's no secret that my Husband had worked for Sam Raimi in one capacity or another (and still does at times) for almost 25 years and Bill has had a working relationship with him for even longer than that. Bill has had close and equally meaningful relationships with directors such as Joe Dante & John Landis just to name two others. I'm certain there are a dozen more at least. My point is, we need to find some balance for that quote. Bill's professional work doesn't begin and end with Sam Raimi. His reach is much wider and his depth as a critic goes far beyond.

I am sure that with the help of other editors, we can remove all those SCARE TACTIC warnings. Bill has a few internet trolls who dog his every move and it would be a shame if they dogged this article right off Wikipedia by gaming the system of warnings, fact checks, reference issues and so forth. There's a place for adding fact tags, yes, but let's simply add the references when & where we can. I will make this a personal priority and I hope other readers of Mr. Warren will do the same!
