Controversies section

[edit]

There's now a Controversies section. If the business with Madhat Yusuf's family does actually make it to court, that'll have to be incorporated into the article as well.132.64.188.36 (talk) 16:14, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

COS appointment and service history

I've incorporated his COS appointment + some additional formatting. The IDF has released his Service Record on the IDF spokesperson website: Curriculum Vitae

The image in the infobox

[edit]

Hi, I dont understand why does the image shows us his hands(shouldnt it be cropped to only show his face and chest? Only 15-20% of the image shows us his face!) and why is it from 2011? Shouldnt we use more recent images? I bet there are a lot of recent images in commons. thanks..- SharabSalam (talk) 22:31, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox is too long

[edit]

Is there a way to minimize his command and war history in the infobox? Maybe with using "see list" link? His Commands held and Battles/wars fields is too long for the infobox. Sokuya (talk) 08:20, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please move this picture below this one, so the actual picture of Gantz as Ramatkal will be on the section "Chief of Staff" rather than "Business career".--Silveter (talk) 03:50, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The picture is already in the "Chief of Staff" section; the way the article is structured, with its infobox, means that the picture appears further down with wider screens just because that's how the stylesheet works. Sceptre (talk) 23:37, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gantz's Blue and White party platform includes introducing prime ministerial term limits, barring indicted politicians from serving in the Knesset, amending the nation-state law to include Israeli minorities, limiting the power of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel over marriages, investing in early education, expanding health care, and re-entering negotiations with the Palestinian Authority for a peace agreement.[1]

Gantz has managed to form a new government. Please include this

Gantz's Blue and White party platform includes introducing prime ministerial term limits, barring indicted politicians from serving in the Knesset, amending the nation-state law to include Israeli minorities, limiting the power of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel over marriages, investing in early education, expanding health care, and re-entering negotiations with the Palestinian Authority for a peace agreement.[2]

On March 9, 2020, it was announced that Gantz had managed to obtain enough MK votes to form at least a new minority Israeli government.[3] 75.72.37.65 (talk) 00:19, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit extended-protected}} template. Fails verification. The use of passive voice here obscures the fact that it was Gantz himself who announced he will form a minority government. At his point, the possible formation of a Gantz government is only that - one possibility out of many. Per MOS:LEDE, this doesn't belong in the lead section yet. Benny Gantz father from Szekely Land

[edit]

There is no subdivision in Romania that is named szekely land. Romania is divided into counties. Perhaps somebody should edit the article and add the county his father came from.

July 2020 (Gantz and Yankelevich)

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Thirty-fifth government of Israel. However, do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Dear editors,
Here I reply the notice in my talk page, which I found quite wrong.
Two hours of a broadcast which was made by two different persons, who sat together in the same studio of the First Social Radio, was not "rumors" nor "personal opinions".
Aybee Binyamin who managed the broadcast, said several times: "Sue us". He was experienced with lawsuits, and would not said it if the broadcast was untrue.
Lapid was angry of Yankelevich, due to leakages and a polygraph examination which found her guilty. Gantz gave Yankelevich an immunity and confronted Lapid for it. It is written here.
Benjamin Netanyahu did come Rabbi Havura. It is written here, with a real photo. Why did Netanyahu from the Likud come Havura from Shas? It is written also here. Why did Havura record Bechar, Gantz's advisor? He is a rabbi!
I asked about the photo of Gantz and Yankelevich in the same jacuzzi in Alma Hotel in Zikhron Ya'akov and the reply was that the photo has been definitely seen. A Haredic Jewish woman would never be in a jacuzzi with a man.
Yankelevich wore red shoes in the Knesset. A Haredic woman would not wear red.
Times of Israel clearly says: "In recordings revealed last week by Channel 2, Israel Bachar, a senior adviser to Benny Gantz, Yankelevich was heard calling the Blue and White leader "a fool and a complete nobody" who is "not suitable to be prime minister". Times of Israel also said that Yankelevich wanted to move from "Blue and White" to the "Likud", for raising the Likud seats.
Gantz appointed Yankelevich as a minister of the diaspora, which was not exist before this coalition.
There are a lot of additional sources which make the broadcast steady and reliable. Yankelevich blackmailed Gantz by sexual intercourse, and moved the materials to the Likud. This was why Gantz joined the coalition and left behind "Yesh Atid" (Lapid) with "Telem" (Moshe Ya'alon). Dgw (talk) 18:52, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is plenty of innuendo around this subject, but you need a much much much much much better source than First Social Radio on Facebook. Vici Vidi (talk) 09:09, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Operation Cast Lead

[edit]

The infobox lists Operation Cast Lead as among the battles/wars he's participated in. To the best of my knowledge, Gantz was the military attache to the United States at the time. Is there any concrete info of his participation in a command role as part of that war?--RM (Be my friend) 19:34, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

“Israeli soldier”?

[edit]

In all seriousness, “Israeli soldier” sounds a bit dumb. I’d rewrite it as “Retired Israeli army general” or “former chief of staff”. Soldier makes it sound as if he’s still in basic training running up and down on hills. Bozzidag (talk) 14:28, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The collapse of the coalition doesn't nullify existing coalition agreements in Israeli law

[edit]

It's true that the 23rd Knesset was dismantled, but that doesn't remove the rotation agreement as the article implies. According to Basic Law: The Government in the Israeli code section "Government Continuity", the existing government continues in its duties until a new government is sworn in. This is why Gantz is still alternative prime minister and secretary of defense. More crucially, this means that it's not the case that "Gantz was schedueled to become prime minister on November 17th." He still is. He will become prime minister on that date provided that:

a. He remains a knesset member.

b. No new government is formed.

c. No changes to the mechanisms of the current agreement are done via legislation.

This is consistent with the Hebrew articles about the Thirty-fifth government of Israel and the Alternate Prime Minister of Israel.

I recently retrieved the signature and made some edits to it so it doesn't look so bad, but I want to place it in the page.

In "Government formation attempts" section capitalization/punctuation change requested:

Following the election, Gantz conceded defeat[50] and Netanyahu received the opportunity to form a government for President Reuven Rivlin, who gave Netanyahu until 29 May to form a governing coalition.[51] Netanyahu was unable to do so and the mandate to form a government returned to Rivlin. Before he could grant the mandate to another individual, potentially Gantz,[52] Netanyahu successfully pushed to dissolve the Knesset on 30 May, leading to new elections in September.[53] Medievalonion (talk) 00:34, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
