1st day section deletion

[edit]

I have deleted the 1st day section from this article as it is unsuitable and unnecessary for an article of this type. Wikipedia is not the place for a record of 20 broadcasts of television idents and the times at which they were used.

I agree. It looks cluttered anyway without the <br> symbols. -- M (speak/spoken) 14:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism

[edit]

These things got a lot of criticism in the media, and moreso than usual: it cost a million quid to make a bunch of computer-generated hippos, and at a time when jobs were cut and the TV licence was being raised. Can this be mentioned in the article? --84.64.51.100 22:22, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly not without evidence to back it up. I've not heard any more critisim than usual, and things like this really grab my attention - I'd have noticed. --TheIslander 20:36, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Video section

[edit]

I have removed the section from the article, because it is copyrighted material. As per Wikipedia:External links:

Sites that violate the copyrights of others per contributors' rights and obligations should not be linked. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website has licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. Potentially infringing links should be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Translation: That's a big no-no. Although if you can find a site that provides information about the idents, rather than nothing but a video of them, then by all means, do so. Pacific Coast Highway {talkcontribs} 01:52, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sombre ident?

[edit]

The rhythm and movement idents had the ballet one that only ever seemed to be used if there was a dramatic incident like a terrorist attack, or if a royal pegged it. Does anyone know if there's an equivalent circle ident that hasn't been called into service yet, or if one of the listed ones seems to be preferred to introduce the news on grim days? 12:17, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Not sure. Moon certainly seems to fit the bill, though - it seems to be used to introduce the news quite a bit, quite rightly. I didn't think that Ballet was purposefully designed to be the 'sombre' ident, more that once it was made it was decided not to use it much as was sombre. TheIslander 18:07, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are as yet no unused idents; moon is the sombre ident of the current set. As time goes on, more idents will be added to the line-up while it is possible some may be withdrawn as has been the case in the past. Hope that helps. Wikiwoohoo 19:36, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Helicopter was quite sombre until the music switch, I think it was intended to be the sombre ident, but the Royals seem to have a longer lifespan than the rest of Britain. I think there was no demand for use for it, but I have noticed at Christmas they always make a more sombre version of the Christmas ident for News bulletins. Heads Up!

[edit]

They're airing on BBC America now. Along with some other BBC One graphics as well. I guess it's an effort to unite the two. Pacific Coast Highway {Springahead!} 23:31, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ashes to Ashes ident

[edit]

I have just seen a new "circle" ident as of 19:45 11/04/09 - I believe it is the first time it has been shown. I have started off the row for it in the 'special network idents' section. However, I haven't got a picture so could somebody finish it off please? (not meaning to sound lazy or anything :D) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.68.149.79 (talk) 18:53, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, thanks for the addition. I have added the relevant details and an image. -- [[ axg ⁞⁞ talk ]] 19:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's in use once again, so I added a new date. Also added a new Saturday night ident due to launch tonight. But what's that Rock Band ident I see noted as the circle's successor? First I've heard of this, sources please. Digifiend (talk) 03:57, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Moon?

[edit]

Has the Moon ident really disappeared? because I saw it last night at about 10pm, I think it's only shown at night now.

(ALJ123456 (talk) 21:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

The 10pm ident is usually a regional ident into the BBC News, so may have been a regional one rather than network. -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 22:02, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change?

[edit]

Are these idents going to be changed at any point soon? They usually last about 5 years, and that will be so in September, so does anyone know of any current filming going on? — Preceding --Lukes123 (talk) 23:56, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There has been no indication from the BBC that the set will be replaced yet, as the 5 1/2 year usage is not set in stone, as with the 1991 BBC Two idents. -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 00:20, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Claims about Moon and Windows

[edit]

The claims added to the page about the Moon ident returning for Halloween and the Windows ident returning for Christmas are based on what factual evidence? Could it be cleaned up, have references added or removed please? Rafmarham (talk) 20:44, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
