Renamed article
[edit]I've renamed this article "Auke people." I created it under the title "Auke Indians." --Evb-wiki 02:08, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
stub
[edit]If we could get a map or better yet an image of some actual Auke people for this, I think we could upgrade it to start class. 21:32, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- There's a map linked on Tlingit showing the territories of each kwaan; we can't use that map as an illustration, but if the boundaries shown could be adapted over to whatever Alaska Panhandle basemap there happens to be in Wikipedia/WikiCommons, that would solve that fairly quickly; I'm not good at making neat-looking graphics myself though....Skookum1 (talk) 23:47, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Auke people → Auke – target was moved to current title by Usvdi on July 6 2011 then turned into a disambig page based on a Frisian (?!) personal name (hardly PRIMARYTOPIC in English) by David Edgar on January 17, 2013]. Current title was created on April 30, 2007 by Evb-wiki] from "Auke Indians" Skookum1 (talk) 06:01, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose until the issue is addressed properly. These should be discussed at a centralized location.
- There was a discussion once on whether the ethnicity should have precedence for the name, and it was decided it shouldn't. That could be revisited. But it really should be one discussion on the principle, not thousands of separate discussions at every ethnicity in the world over whether it should be at "X", "Xs", or "X people". — kwami (talk) 12:39, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Support per nom. An identified people should be the primary topic of a term absent something remarkable standing in the way. bd2412 T 02:28, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- Support as per the policy Wikipedia:Article titles#Use commonly recognizable names and the guideline Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ethnicities and tribes). There is no need to redo any guideline as it already supports the un-disabiguated title. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 03:43, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
