Attila Vegh (fighter)Attila Vegh – There is a similarly named canoer named Attila Végh (note the "é"), who is comparatively much less notable. The proposed page redirected there, now redirects here. A "For the canoer, see..." would be appropriate in the fighter's article, but there is a clear primary topic. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:47, 22 September 2013 (UTC) 00:47, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That wouldn't be terrible, but typically, a primary topic doesn't have a qualifier. Only the others. A disambiguation page is just extra click for readers, either way. They'll obviously be searching for one or the other. When there are just two topics, disambiguation is best done in one place, for user-friendliness. • Support - I looked in Google Books and only found Attila Végh (poet) (he didn't have an en.wp article prior but has a long article on hu.wp, and has a stub here now). The canoeist has lots of photos in competition (but no hu.wp article and is missing his date of birth). Consequently bumping Attila Végh on to Attila Végh (canoer) and creating a dab was justified whatever happens here. [obviously if anyone in this RM thinks canoer is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over both the poet and fighter then that is easily reversed by any editor]
The Slovak-Hungarian "fighter Attila Végh" gets plenty of coverage in Slovak-Slovak sources "zápasník Attila Végh", Slovak-Hungarian sources (parameter.sk "MMA .. Végh Attila"), and Hungarian-Hungarian sources ("szlovákiai-magyar harcos, Végh Attila") ... he appears to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in Slovakia and Hungary as well as in plain English Google. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:04, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That explains why I didn't see the poet. Now that he's a stub, I think we should move that to Attila Végh (disambiguation). The fighter is likely more well-known than both the others combined, by virtue of competing (and headlining) on Spike TV. Not sure if I should start a new RM, or if this can cover that. Seems like it could. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:13, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure if we should name the fighter's article with the é or e. Probably proper in Slovakia, but English sources seem to always omit it. English Wikipedia, and he's most popular through English TV, so I'd lean toward "Vegh". There's probably a relevant guideline somewhere. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:17, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The guideline is to use sources which are reliable, per Wikipedia definition of reliable (WP:IRS) which usually means books with full unicode fonts. I didn't address this issue as its minor compared to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and there are a few cases where we do distinguish on accent/lack of accent. But those cases are as I recall distinguishing an American from a non-American. This would be distinguishing a Hungarian from two other Hungarians with the same name which seems a bit silly.
As far as I can see WikiProject Mixed martial arts doesn't suffer from xenonymophobia. Most of the Brazilian fighters out of the Gracie stable who have retained Brazilian citizenship have also retained their Brazilian accents, the same as any other sport on Wikipedia. English sources which do have the fonts do use it: "Attila Végh... three uneven rounds", "our fighters split the Slovak Republic, .... Attila Végh. ", I imagine that MMA website editors are just less familiar with Hungarian accents than Brazilian ones, rather than having a English-names-for-Hungarians policy.
Having said that this is up to you at this point. I would support Attila Végh for the fighter, and move Attila Végh (currently dab for all 3) to Attila Végh (disambiguation). In ictu oculi (talk) 06:26, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds fine. His promotion's profile doesn't use the mark, but Wikipedia is its own thing. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:21, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Attila VeghAttila Végh – Should be non-controversial, Hungarian-Slovak fighter per additional agreement in above RM, per Slovak and Hungarian sources, per English sources using Slovak/Hungarian accents e.g., per WP:AT title consistency with all other Slovak and Hungarian BLPs, with other Végh surname bios including Attila Végh (canoeist) and Attila Végh (poet). In ictu oculi (talk) 11:32, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it's basically the same as French, "café," otherwise the e would be like e in "egg". In ictu oculi (talk)
