Assiniboine people → Assiniboine – target is a dab page created as such by Mjazac on Aug 4 2005. the people page was started as "Assiniboine" on Jan 29 2005 by 69.26.28.56 then moved by Kwami over redirect to "Assinboine people" on Jan 15 2011 contrary to WP:UNDAB. Of what's on the dab page the people are the PRIMARYTOPIC (the river is debatable as a PRIMARYTOPIC but it already has "river" in its title, and the target should be moved to Assiniboine (disambiguation) and the people page moved back to where it belongs at Assiniboine... why the people article is separate from Nakoda people I haven't looked into yet; a merge may be called for - ?? Skookum1 (talk) 04:53, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose until the issue is addressed properly. These should be discussed at a centralized location.
- There was a discussion once on whether the ethnicity should have precedence for the name, and it was decided it shouldn't. That could be revisited. But it really should be one discussion on the principle, not thousands of separate discussions at every ethnicity in the world over whether it should be at "X", "Xs", or "X people". — kwami (talk) 12:53, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Support per nom. An identified people should be the primary topic of a term absent something remarkable standing in the way. bd2412 T 02:28, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- Support as per the policy Wikipedia:Article titles#Use commonly recognizable names and the guideline Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ethnicities and tribes). There is no need to redo any guideline as it already supports the un-disabiguated title. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 04:43, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
Subgroups and Bands
[edit]The Subgroups and Bands section is really hard to read. The short entries are straightforward, but the longer descriptions are seriously run-on sentences, with many subclauses. I'm really bad about using parentheticals, but these are too complex even for me to read. I've tried doing some tidying for comprehensibility, but since I don't know the subject it's sometimes hard to parse out the original intent. This section would really benefit from attention by someone with knowledge of the subject and really good writing skills. Have at it!

- So far you are doing fine. To the extent that you have sources, check what they say, and for what's unsourced, take your best shot; I've got a pretty good eye/ear for something that goes too far amiss, but I don't have the time to do a lot of research... so go for it and I'll lurk if you go overboard! ;-) Montanabw(talk) 09:42, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Some content, but really only a stub; has pic; language article already separate. Skookum1 - May 12, 06 |
