The article itself states that its only information comes from 2 dictionaries. id say thats a copyright vio. the_undertow talk 23:00, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arnaut is also the first name of Arnaut Daniel, the twelvth-century troubadour. Someone who knows how should make a disambiguation page and link to that article as well. Ingeborg Ulfsdottyr (talk) 22:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

copyvio issue

[edit]

One account has deleted matter from this article fifteen times, added the same plagiarism three times, and done no other edits anywhere. Could there be a remedy more appropriate than shutting down the page? —Tamfang (talk) 09:11, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Technically there was no copyright violation. It became a edit war, with a editor constantly removing references and manipulating other source material (without not even bothering to at least say something here about that) until another editor placed this template. One can look at the old page and see there is not copyright violation. The template should be removed. No deletion of page as its about a term that was somewhat used by Westerners and others in the past and still by Turks for Albanians.Best.Resnjari (talk) 21:39, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, Resnjari, but I don't agree. The content was copy-pasted from http://albanianorientalist.blogspot.it/, where it was posted on 16 April 2012, and where it is claimed that it was written by Ermal Bega, executive director of the Albanian Center for Oriental Studies, Tirana, Albania; published in issue number 5 of URA magazine; and translated from Albanian by Armir Taraj. I don't see any reason to doubt those claims, and nor do I see any free licence which would allow us to copy that material here. Do you? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:53, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree Justlettersandnumbers. I read the whole blog on Albanian Orientalist and in no way does this Wikipedia article copy content from that site as it stands now. Moreover the article you refer to on that site does not in anyway cite references while this article does. This article is based on references and has scope for expansion. I still fail to see how you have proven this to be a copyright violation or even plagiarism. The only thing that this article has and that the other article is that they share mainly the word Arnaut. Maybe i overlooked it, but cite an example to show this issue of copyright violations. Current tag should be removed. Issues are addressed. Best.Resnjari (talk) 14:36, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Resnjari, I think we may be at cross-purposes? I have of course removed the copyright violation. The content added with this edit was an exact, word-for-word, copy-paste from albanianorientalist.blogspot.it, starting from "Many of us have heard about the Arnaouts …" and ending with "… the editorial board of the cultural-scientific magazine for Oriental Studies “URA” (the Bridge) has decided to dedicate this exclusive issue to them, the Arnaouts." The remaining content in the article is, as far as I can determine, fine, as I think you are saying. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:46, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Justlettersandnumbers, when the issue was first brought up no one made reference to that blog and it further implied that the article should be deleted wholesale, which i am not in favour of. Had no idea what was needed to be addressed and done or where to start. Anyway if one looks at the history of the page, an editor kept deliberately deleting the surname section and in a way editing warring before the tag was placed. By the way, is there some kind of Wikipedia tool that one can use to do a check if a page has plagerised from somewhere, kind of like a turnitin system used by universities these days to scrutinize students essay's? Best.Resnjari (talk) 15:56, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, indeed. There's a useful tool here, which can be configured to use Turnitin as well as other methods; User:EranBot is based on Turnitin. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:14, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, thanks ! Makes it easier to find out what's what when someone just posts its plagiarism or copyright vio's without going into it. Best.Resnjari (talk) 17:16, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Austrian and russian army

[edit]

The meaning was different or to be clarified in late medieval Austrian and Russian army

for example: Arnauten Corps Bukowina [18] and Bukowinaer Freiwillige battalion

Major Chevalier Friedrich Forget de Barst

It was raised too late to fight (October) from the previous Arnauten of Bukowina and volunteers of East Galicia.[1]

Arnauten was a formal term which indicated muslim troops of slavic people. The word came from Arvaniten, which was the Greek name given to Albanians, as they emerged for the first time in written sources. From that term came also the Turkish Arnavutlar which in 18th Century was taken over also by European authors. Thus the German education Arnauten developed as a further synonym for Albanians. In the west the term was used frequently exclusively for the Muslim Albanians.

“The arnauts are provided by the country with horses, the country-like clothing, then piques and armatures in their house clothes - if the same with clothing and armatures are unable to come up with the same, those from the Stryer, Sanislauer, Zalescziker and others still occupied by our troops Tarnopol circles restored, only there is a lack of sea mists and pistols, the convention of which I come from the citizen- Direnden Herr General Collowrath repeatedly for a long time."

The two Arnauten squadrons and those of the Jager are already in front of the Enemies and, in the absence of another cayallerie, are doing good services, the squadron of the nobles will also retire to the rest of the troops in a few days. The noble Escadron is green throughout, with long, wide trousers, a country-like uniform spencer with red equalization, and armed with pistols and sabers. - The officers of the Arnauts have long, dark blue wide trousers, a brown Spenzer with blue equalization and epaulettes. These troops have hats of black lambskins for their headgear with the adjustment of the czakos, the leatherwork is black throughout. With the Arnauts on foot, the request in question did not have the desired progress, because a not inconsiderable number of them immediately appeared to the Buccowiner Granze armed with scythes and a few rifles to occupy the dniest, not only their replacement, but mostly afterwards Bullish dismissal persistently demand, "

Mixed auxilliary

[edit]

it is possible that an austrian corps to have mixed coposition?

In the general competition with which all the provinces of the monarchy in the course of the present war have given proof of their loyalty and adherence to your majesty and the state and have given all their might for its preservation, the Buccowina has also followed this lofty invitation w ith such a success that owing to the patriotic zeal of the Łandes inhabitants and the special activity of the dominions by means of voluntary recruitment, an Arnauten Corps of 6 squadrons kayalerie has already been formed and the establishment of an infantry battalion has already started.[2]
