[edit]I have reason to belive that the subject title is spelled incorrectly. There is a factual inaccuracy in this article (that she won Miss USA 1957 but the winner of the 1958 pageant was one Eurlyne Howell (spelling verified on the official Miss USA website) and I assume the two are one and the same. Not exactly sure what to do about this! CarlyPalmer 02:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Seems to be both? variant spellings, or perhaps a name change to the more conventional form? imdb has her as arlene, with no reference to a name change & not much on her bio. tv.com has her as arlene too. i'm assuming (tentatively) that: a) it's the same person; & b) btwn the 2 sites, they likely have her name spelled as it appeared in the relevant film/tv credits. seems like this needs some more research to nail it down, but my best guess would be she started off as eurlyne, & then changed it; whether legally, or just for professional use, i have no idea.
also, someone is trying to delete her picture, anyone interested in saving it would be most welcome to join in/address the issues

- According to several websites both spellings are correct. One site says that one is an alias. Another states that one is a misspelling, but supposedly is pronounced the same. An a.ka. remark could be added in the article. Sf46 (talk) 01:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- CarlyPalmer, Lx 121, and Sf46, this newspaper article from January 3, 1960, appears to clear up the confusion about names. The fourth paragraph says "Producer Roy Huggins ... signed her and changed her first name to Arlene." Eddie Blick (talk) 15:13, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Eurlyne Howell was born in 1939. She was 2 years behind me at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her roommate was a close sorority sister of mine. Eurlyne Married into a movie family (Paul Lacava) at the end of her reign and did work for a while in the entertainment field in Hollywood (television). She took Arlene as her stage name. She sames to have retired after the birth of her 2 sons. |

Date of TV debut
[edit]I have changed the date of her TV debut back to September 28 to match the information in both the headline and the article of the cited source. The date had been changed by an edit with the summary, "The year of her debut was listed as September 28,2958 It’s recorded list of show was November 30, 1958", but no citation was added to support that change. With no reliable, verifiable source cited, I see no reason to change the date. Eddie Blick (talk) 17:55, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
