address

[edit]

I edited the king of the hill page a while back before the info about arlen was moved to its own page. I havent edited this page yet, but im just wondering where my edit has gone? In the episode "hanks choice" from season 5 bobby moves into the dog house, peggy goes to check the mail and it shows a letter addressed to "84 Rainey St." and bobby gets a letter addressed to, "84 1/2 rainey st". I havent read this page completely, but from what i saw, i didnt see any of this mentioned in this new article. I think it should be added since there is proof of it, if needed i can take a picture of the screen when they show the envelope.

Before being moved to its own page, the article was cut significantly, removing as much remedial info as possible. the brazos thing was removed, as well as some other things. hopefully this clears up any confusion. best wishes, Onopearls 17:49, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
please do not put anything else in this page without proof, not just OR. thanks, Onopearls 19:42, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Proof of address is in episode 'Mutual of OmAbwah' (s9e8). The street address is "84 Rainey St., Arlen, TX 71304" as noted on a zoom in of a check, clearly visible in HD. The zip code happens to be for the Alexandria (East), LA area. The Bank address appears to be "1947 Main St., Arlen, TX 75190" which is in Dallas (southeast), TX area but is harder to make out so might be incorrect. Note both zip codes appear to be unused but are in clearly predesignated areas by the USPS. Also on "Arlen City Bomber" (s9e10) there is another zoom in of a check with the same address for Luanne Platter.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.137.121.54 (talk) 23:18, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Athens?

[edit]

Something could be added about Athens, Texas. The two cities have similar features. Example, there are no tourist features or well known sports teams. Arlen has Lake Arlen; Athens has Lake Athens. The cities both have populations of around 11,000. Athens is infact, 3 hours and 18 minutes from Houston, if you use the "quickest route" feature on Windows Live Maps. Athens is located in Henderson County, Texas; which is similar to Heimlich County. Although I am not saying Athens is completely based on Athens, it could be part of the Arlen mystery. Speculation

[edit]

Currently this article seems mostly devoted to personal speculation on Arlen's exact location (which could be considered Original reasearch, and in any case, the question might be unanswerable given conflicting clues dropped in the series). It would be much better for the article to focus on the role that Arlen plays in the series... AnonMoos (talk) 20:38, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I'd add a couple links (I don't know if I can upload the files to Wikipedia without violating copyright or whatever since they are links of screen captures) to further the speculation regarding Arlen's theoretical location. Wish they were higher res but it's the best I had. They come from S09E06 (The Petriot Act) when Peggy points at Arlen, and then the camera jumps to an overhead shot of what looks like eastern Texas. Maybe? Arlen1: [1] Arlen2: [2] 98.206.60.212 (talk) 08:16, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Houston? or Dallas?

[edit]

The article says that Arlen is thought to be closest to Houston of all the big cities in Texas, yet I remember in the Thanksgiving episode, the Hills fly out of DFW, and I think Hank mentions that DFW is a 2 hour drive from Arlen 05:37, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

corruption

[edit]

should it be noted taht pretty much every person in arlen except the most important characers are corrupt? just think about it: half the characters in the show make the people of Springfield (in the simpsons) look like saints

County

[edit]

Wasn't Arlen originally part of Arlen County during the 1st season? Dancing is Forbidden (talk) 05:20, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
