[edit]

A large content of this article was removed based on https://copyvios.toolforge.org/ reports. I believe that these removals are erroneous because upon further inspection you can see that:

1. the first "copied source" actually copied content from here, not the other way around. 2. the second "copied source" just reported the same verbatim *quote* as a bunch of other sources, including one from which this article copied.

The first claimed similarity is appear.banksufsegullensvost.tk, with 49.7% score[1]. Take a second to just look at this page.

The page clearly has no central topic: it starts with iOS 7 beta, changes to another language and then back to English, then goes to some installation guide and then goes on about ARKit and other technologies, and ends with iOS 14. That's because it's an amalgam of a bunch of other articles, including Wikipedia articles:

[1.1] iOS 14 - 85% [1.2] iPadOS 14 - 69.3%

The other claimed content copy[3] is a citation of a citation of a press release from Facebook. This quote appeared in *two* cited third-party articles in this exact form: ArsTechnica[4] and Bloomberg[5]. I'm pretty sure I copied this quote from ArsTechnica article (you can clearly see the similarity here[6]).

Based on evidence above, I think removal was unjustified, so I reversed it.

Hi. Please do not remove revdel tags. Let an experienced admin evaluate whether or not this is a case of WP:MIRROR. Onel5969 TT me 19:02, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, thank you for a prompt reply. Thank you for your concern about copy-editing.
Have you actually read appear.banksufsegullensvost.tk? Given that iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 blatantly copy that source, should we remove copy content from these two articles as well?
Sincerely, Anton.bersh (talk) 21:08, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Anton.bersh, no I haven't, but feel free to report those if you feel there is an issue. Onel5969 TT me 22:56, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Onel5969, Cwmhiraeth since there was never any copyvio violation, may I restore the original state of the article before any copivio-motivated removals? Anton.bersh (talk) 19:03, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I did not revision delete the article because I could find nothing that I was sure was a copyvio. You will know whether you did in fact copy the text. I suggest you add information back in a stepwise fashion, adding citations as you go, so that the source for every statement is clear. It would be best for you to rewrite the material, whereas if you stick to your previous text, the suspicion of copyvios may recur. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:10, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cwmhiraeth, thank you for a prompt reply.
I did _not_ copy any text besides verbatim quotes. The spam site promoting "escorts" _copied_ the legitimate content I wrote for this page and content many _other_ people wrote for _other_ pages (URLs are above).
Onel5969, Cwmhiraeth If you don't understand why copivio created the bogus reports in the first place, I can explain and event demonstrate. If you will not consider it vandalism, I can produce bogus copivio reports "proving" that you "copied", for example, your own "about" or "talk" pages.Anton.bersh (talk) 23:03, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is a "device"?

[edit]

In the context of the first sentence of this article, what constitutes a "device"? There seems to be an assumption that iPhones are included, but what about iPads, Watches, Macintoshes and other Apple products? 87.75.117.183 (talk) 23:17, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, iOS, macOS (and Mac 13), and tvOS all have Apple IDFA. But watchOS apparently does not. For details see this docmentation link. Anton.bersh (talk) 08:13, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
