Full name versus attribute

[edit]

I don't understand why the attribute "(Spain)" is necessary when it would be much simpler to use the station's full name: Antena 3 Televisión, which would distinguish it from any other channel. This name is official and was often used by announcers in ads for programming (e.g. "Este viernes en Antena 3 Televisión"). T.W. (talk) 19:26, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Taran Wanderer: The most common name for the TV station is Antena 3, not Antena 3 Televisión. In addition Antena 3 Televisión was a former trade name of the wider Atresmedia mass media group. Current title is a compromise accounting for 1) the abiding to WP:MOSTCOMMONNAME, 2) the existence of other tv and radio channels known as Antena 3 outside of Spain and 3) the existence of other company divisions sister to the Spanish TV channel also partially using the Antena 3 string.--Asqueladd (talk) 10:18, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
