Regarding notability tag on this article
[edit]I never met so funny situation in my life than this on WP! One can see huge amount of references and still without putting them in the article to make it better people are happy putting tags related to notability? I cannot understand what kind of cooperation is this. Are we here to delete each others efforts or to build an encyclopedia? If this attitude of editors remain, then god help WP! Thank you. -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 09:25, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
Claims?
[edit]There are a lot of claims being made in the reports circulated in a section of the media. Would it be correct to take these claims at face value? At times, the media has been taken for a ride too, and tends to repeat the claims that come up in other publications. Just the fact (?) that he was given a nine minute meeting which spilled into two hours with the Prime Minister cannot be grounds enough to assume the correctness of his argument, or the claims that he was behind the move. Also, he seems to be a mechanical engineer.... some sections of the media say that the group is made up of chartered accountants and engineers, while one publication online says he is a chartered accountant and mechanical engineer himself. This is confusing.
Hate to sound pessimistic or defeatist, but if there was such a simple solution to economic panacea, then some other brilliant Charlie would have possible thought it out. Or, this man deserves a Economics Nobel. See the counter-point to this: http://www.sabhlokcity.com/2014/01/a-comprehensive-demolition-of-the-dangerous-arthakrantibjp-bank-transaction-tax-proposal/
Business Standard, a prominent business paper, is skeptical when it says: "While there has been no official acknowledgement from the PMO, Bokil has not been shying away from talking on the subject" ... http://www.business-standard.com/article/specials/anil-bokil-the-man-who-got-rs-500-rs-1-000-notes-scrapped-116111101673_1.html In my view, Wikipedia too needs to retain its skepticism, if it's credibility is not to be called into question.
From this report, it would appear that Mr Bokil himself is speaking to the media [1] though the other sections of the media do not make this immediately clear.
Reports in papers such as The Hindu clarify that this viewpoint got an official hearing in February 2016 [2] and see also this online report which suggests the same [3] Nonetheless, there should be some space for skepticism about the claims being made. 59.95.15.218 (talk) 23:45, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
- I agree 100% with your points! I want to know from you then do you still think that the notability tag needs to remain there? I am removing the notability tag now. Because by the references given by you, it is clear that he is a notable person. You are free to make changes 'in' the article as you find appropriate. Go ahead and do it. But you will also agree that notability tag needs to be removed. Thank you. -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 05:48, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
