New information coming in

The altar stone is now being said not to be from Wales but somewhere further afield, likely more northerly. High barium content and not a "match" (presumably mass spectrometer) with other bluestones nor Welsh red sandstones. Also I believe the picture used may be wrong, as a previous post in talk suggests. The origin of stone might be from different geological place than Whales - it does not necessarily equates, that it was not lying in Wales for many thousands of years(LEFT BY GLACIER, THAT HAD MELTED MANY THOUSANDS YEARS BEFORE) before picked up by humans, like the folks are now jumping to conclusion, that it must have been transported there all the way from Scotland by humans... 80.40.93.139 (talk) 10:19, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many years ago, circa late fifties, when serving with RA, friends and I passed Stonehenge many times and thought not very much about it. However the Altar stones were in place as they are today. I have now been informed that the Altar stones were placed in this position during the early fifties ?. Any info would be appreciated. thanks Des power.

Not a building
