Title of Article
[edit]Should the title be changed to include all of the Alfa Giulia 105 GT Coupes, not just the first Sprint variants, as the Sprint lasted for two years, but the 105 Couple lasted for 10+ years?
--Qwertytam 04:30, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- After a bit of looking around maybe Giulia GT? Or Giulia GT Coupe? qwertytam 06:03, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- We need to find a reliable source of official Alfa Romeo names - for example, Fusi "Alfa Romeo: All Cars From 1910", or d'Amico and Tabucchi, "All the Alfa Romeo Production Cars 1910 - 1996." What names were used in those references?
- One other problem - regional differences - did the car have different names in English speaking markets e.g. AU, NZ, UK, US and if so, which to use in English Wikipedia - model name from Fusi, or name used in e.g. Owners Manual in UK market? --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 12:56, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- More info: I've got a copy of an English Language Instruction Book (owners manual), printed in Italy, for a GT Junior, where the title is: "ALFA ROMEO GT JUNIOR 1.3/1.6", so I'm not sure if that helps or not? --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 13:17, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've got a pdf extract of fusi showing model names and production numbers up to 1972 (my source for edits and where I found the correct names for the different models e.g. GT 1300 Junior). He doesn't refer to the coupe as a different name compared to the sedans. I guess you can't really call them 105 as there were two different model designators (105 and 115). I think the best name for them to distingush is 'Giulia GT' since there was the cabriolet version as well as the coupe. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Qwertytam (talk • contribs) 01:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC).
- The correct model names for the Bertone coupes are, roughly in order of introduction: Giulia Sprint GT, Giulia Sprint GTC, Giulia Sprint GTA, Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, GT 1300 Junior (no "Giulia" in there), GTA 1300 Junior, 1750 GTV, 2000 GTV, GT 1600 Junior. When the Giulia Super and the Giulia Super 1300 were unified into the rationalised Giulia Super 1.3 / Giulia Super 1.6 range in 1972, the later GT 1300 Junior and GT 1600 Junior were also referred to in some parts lists and other Alfa Romeo documents as GT Junior 1.3 and GT Junior 1.6, but they were never marketed with these designations. The Zagato model names were 1300 Junior Zagato and 1600 Junior Zagato. Unless there are serious objections I will be proceeding to at change the model names in the text. Merging of Articles
[edit]The Giulia coupe had many versions. Why can't they just be covered in this article about the Giulia coupe instead of split into many smaller versions. e.g. there is one article on the Ford Mustang, not one for each seperate version.
Along with changing the name of this articlce to Alfa Romeo Giulia 105 Coupe, I think this would make more sense. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 59.154.26.66 (talk) 05:10, 29 January 2007 (UTC).
- The above statement about there being one article on the Ford Mustang is not true - there is the main Ford Mustang article, plus the Ford Mustang variants page, the Boss 302 Mustang page, the Shelby Mustang page, plus California Special Mustang, Ford Mustang SVO, Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, Ford Mustang Mach 1 and Ford FR500C, and I'm not sure that list is complete as I might have missed one or two.
- However, I would support a merge of the Alfa Romeo Sprint GT (Veloce) page and the GT 1300 Junior page, as to me at least, these are variants of the same car. The Alfa Romeo GTA is a slightly different matter. While similar to the GT Veloce, it featured a different engine (at least the cylinder head), different bodywork (alloy), suspension changes and the main focus is on racing, rather than a road car. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 23:52, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, so seems like it's a good idea to merge the GT 1300 Junior article into the Sprint GT page (By the way whats the correct name for the Junior? Seem to see every possible combination of the name, maybe there was just a bit too much vino at lunch one day at the Alfa marketing department:)). I agree with the seperation of the GT and GTA, though should the GTA page be changed to a different name to reflect the Giulia origins? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Qwertytam (talk • contribs) 02:02, 5 February 2007 (UTC).
MERGING OF 1750 Shouldn't the 1750 article be split and merged with the relevant information going to the Giulia Sedan article Alfa Romeo Giulia and the other information going to the Giulia GT article Alfa Romeo Sprint GT (Veloce)? Then there would be three articles for the Giulia range, sedan, Coupe and GTA.qwertytam 05:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- That would be four articles - sedan, coupe, GTA and spider (that's also a 105 series), and I just made a new one... the Giulia TZ, so is that four or five articles? Here is a radical idea - lets merge all the 105 series (Giulia) models into one page. Where a specific model is sufficiently unique such as the GTA, the TZ or the Montreal, let it have it's own page, but if we put the sedan, spider and coupe road cars in the one article, we don't have to repeat stuff like the introduction of fuel injection on the US market cars, three times over. Or would that be too big for one article? If we are going to have one main article, it should be the Alfa Romeo Giulia, as that model was the starting point for all the others. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 08:34, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Damm Alfa Romeo producing all these good cars! I'm sure they knew it would create a headache 40 years later for wikipedia! What about a seperate article dealing with the details for the Giulia engines, but leave a summary in the main articles for each of the cars obvisouly. There's already an article for the twin camm engine, so maybe it can be part of that? Don't like merging the coupe/sedan/spider. What about leaving the Giulia article but with a summary on the cars and different models and have links to articles dealing with the details.qwertytam 05:14, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- There is already an article on the Alfa Romeo Twin Cam engine, but you can't really have an article on the Giulia coupes, without mentioning in the article itself, that the introduction of the 1750 and 2000, were related to the introduction of new engine capacities. But I agree, it looks like we are heading for three main articles for the 105 series.
- Giulia (and Berlina) covering all the sedans and mentioning the coupe and spider models.
- Guilia GT covering all GT, GTV, GTV1750, GT Junior etc (with link to GTA page).
- Spider covering all the 105/115 series spider models.
- Plus pages for special models (Montreal etc), and if there is detailed technical information on the engines, that is common to all, that can go on the Twin Cam engine page. However, I'd like to hear other peoples ideas on this. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 05:38, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I agree, would be great to get some more input into this.qwertytam 00:23, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe Giulia (sedan), 1750/2000 Sedan and Coupe page for all coupes, so three different pages. Form coupe page links to TZ and GTA, Montreal. 1750/2000 Spiders could be just linked to Spider Duetto page but then we need cover also Giulietta and Giulia Spiders somewhere, dont like the idea to put these to current spider page as its seen usually own model from 1966 to 1993. Engine page can be like it is now. We have separate page also for V6 engine and dont like the idea to link there from different car articles. Engine pages are just general, deeper info of engines history and so, and model pages should have more detailed information. This is quite hard because so many variants...--Typ932 11:10, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the merge templates and made 1750 page just for berlinas...any toughts?--— Typ932T | C 18:04, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with the separate article on the 1750 and 2000 Berlina. I have inserted links where appropriate. Gkaraolides (talk) 00:20, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

There are now separate articles for the Giulia saloons, the 1750/2000 saloons, and the Spider, and information on all the coupe models has been merged into this article. I am for renaming the article to "Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupes" and I propose to do this unless there is an objection. Gkaraolides (talk) 14:39, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think it can be renamed --— Typ932T | C 15:26, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Article renamed. I think we are now OK in terms of how the Giulia, 105 Coupe and Spider articles are organised, and we can all go back to improving the articles themselves. I think it would be nice to have photos of 1750 GTV and 2000 GTV in standard trim, rather than with aftermarket wheels, and also of the original Giulia Sprint GT and the GTC so we can have a photo of each model. Gkaraolides (talk) 01:06, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have been searchin photo of GTC without any luck and good photos of original trims are hard to find --— Typ932T | C 06:38, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Vehicle Headings
[edit]I might be a bit picky here, but to me the vehicle headings with all the tipo information etc make them look quite long and untidy. Would it be better to incorporate them into the article somehow instead?qwertytam 03:29, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yep those should be fixed somehow...--— Typ932T | C 07:58, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed, together with a general tidying up... I thought I'd do it since it was me who put up the Tipo numbers in the first place :) Gkaraolides (talk) 00:01, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
