Retired?

[edit]

He appears to be a retired astronaut but an active officer in the US Navy. I reverted a change in the infobox but I'm really not sure which is right - do we need to differentiate between the difference between his astronaut status and his overall career status? I felt that "retired" was an oversimplification but maybe "active" is too. How to fix this? Best wishes DBaK (talk) 21:02, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an entirely valid question but you'll have better luck getting a discussion with the members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Spaceflight than on any single astronaut's page. Regretfully, of course, the question is now moot for Dex. - Dravecky (talk) 07:36, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Participation in the Gulf War

[edit]

The article shows that Poindexter has the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait) but not the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia). Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia) is specifically for those who participated in the Gulf War or Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait) has a longer time period, including after Operation Desert Storm and post Gulf War. Since the article does not show the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), more references are required to show he had a role in this war. "Category:United States Navy personnel of the Gulf War" is removed from the article until a defining role is shown with reliable refs. Semper Fi!
