Hi, I was waiting for this AfD to be closed before making this proposal. I wasn't sure if it was proper to do so again on the AfD page while the matter was still being discussed. The AfD discussion, however, is now officially closed and since the result was no consensus. From some of the comments made on the aforementioned AfD thread, it does appear that Baker may indeed satisfy WP:BIO and is notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article. It does seem that this notability comes more from being a university professor and a philosopher than a shogi player. Recent improvements made to the article have been devoted to Baker's academic achievements, so the shogi stuff is no longer the primary focus. So, I am suggesting changing the article's name from Alan Baker (shogi) to Alan Baker (philosopher), Alan Baker (academic), Alan Baker (mathematical realist) or something similar. I guess I could simply move this page myself, but I am not familiar with the process at all and also thought it would be best to hear what others think first. Thanks in advance - Marchjuly (talk) 13:39, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is possible that these edits [1], [2] and [3] made by a user named Alanshogi might be seen as an apparent conflict of interest and thus undermine some of the neutrality of the information made related to Mr. Baker and shogi. User:Alanshogi has only made three edits on Wikipedia and all three were made to this article (an article about a shogi player named Alan) within in a few minutes of each other. This could just be a coincidence, but I'm not so sure because at the time those edits were made, the main focus of the article was Mr. Baker's shogi activities. Since then, however, the article's name and primary focus have changed, so maybe this is no longer as relevant as before. Still, I am wondering if this is enough to warrant the attaching of a Template:COI to the article or a Template:Uw-coi to User:Alanshogi's talk page? Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 04:38, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
