Good resource for lawyers
[edit]This is a very good article, since, as jurist and lawyer, it is very useful in preparing pleadings, inter alia. It saves time to go to the libraries, OPAC, looking for Philippine acronyms.--Florentino floro (talk) 08:06, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Can we at least get rid of the ones that aren't acronyms? maxsch (talk) 16:42, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and removed the items on the various lists that are not acronyms. There doesn't seem to be anything particularly notable about "abbreviations in the Philippines" and they are not covered by the subject of this article. maxsch (talk) 21:25, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Baybayin influence?
[edit]It seems that there's a preference for using the initial syllable for acronyms in the Philippines, rather than just the initial letter.
Could this be because the original writing system (Baybayin) used one character for each consonant-vowel pair? "Initial letter" abbreviations would have been impossible in the old writing system, so people wouldn't think in that style.
Worth mentioning? Any references to back me up? Or is it obvious enough that it could be mentioned as a possibility without needing to be motorcaded with references? Gronky (talk) 23:55, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
